You guys are lucky. At least you got to -schedule- installs of that sort of DR gear before an outage occured.

Happened the night of the Christmas party. Just sitting down to dinner when the over temp alarms started.

    All the batteries? Done too.

Most of the guts of the UPS were OK. Just that cap and board and the batteries had to be replaced.

Shut everything down, put the UPS in bypass, and started everything back up. UPS was down for almost 2 days waiting for batteries and parts and although the temperature shot up to well over 100*F, nothing bad happened to the equipment.

The UPS isn't primarily DR gear. It's primary function is to provide conditioned power for the data center. It's secondary function is to carry the load during transfer to the generator-so it only needs to hold the load for a minute or so while the generator starts and comes up to speed and the transfer happens.

    Some of us can.
I still claim NorCal at least partially considering I'm 5 minutes away.

Yes...yes it was. And to protect the innocent...it shall not be spoken of.

    :spy:
