I did redline first, was a good swap, then I went to amsoil, took that stuff out sooner than later then back to redline. After my gear swap later this week I'm tryin rp, engine likes it so figure should try the rest.

^^ Curious, Tony. What did you not like about the Amsoil? Did you use the Severe Gear?

After putting in AMs oil all my seals started to sweat and my diffs sounded more metal on metal. Maybe seals were fluke I dunno, I tried engine oil to and result sounded more metal on metal. And yes 75w90 sg

Amsoil or any gear oil is not the reason your seals are leaking. Maybe you just enjoy swapping out brand A for brand B.

Previous owner used to haul heavy loads, so he put an AAL on it and TRD front suspension with a lift and custom rear suspension for added weight capacity. I recently installed a tow package (Curt with lifetime warranty) So i will definitely see what this thing can handle as far as weight goes.
I've heard good and bad things about Royal Purple Max Gear. Because I just read it loses its viscosity more than other oils based on analysis, I am going to swap it out sooner than normal. Not going to risk it. But then again the RP cost 80 bucks. Ill give it 15,000.

OME complete kit with dakars, LR UCAs, Seat covers, weathertechs, anytime foglight mod, ABS kill switch, locker anytime mod, powered sub, halos, leer topper, aux/ipod hookup.
I run Mobil 1 full synthetic in the t case and front and valvoline Dino in rear because I do quite a bit of towing.

I like trying to find something that makes the truck happy.

I have never heard of Amsoil Severe Gear being a bad choice for our trucks. Maybe it was contaminated somehow.

Running Valvoline DuraBlend 80W-90 in both differentials with 2 oz of LSD additive in rear, yeah I have the LSD rear. No leaks, no chatter, runs fine. DuraBlend has 3% LSD additive in it by weight, the book calls for 4% on a Taco Mech LSD.
Have RP 75W-90 in transfer case & transmission. No more of the occasional grind shifting into 3rd. No leaks. Shifts a lot smoother. Also goes into 4wd as soon as I turn the switch. Before not so much. Had to try a couple times before it would kick in. Not since I changed it.
    Had factory lube in everything.

Engine...dino and I can hear the howling.....Valvoline 10W-40 no more taco tick. Same thing I ran in my '00 PreRunner for 12 yrs. No tick with it either. The engine oil I'll always use, the gear oil I'll see how it runs. So far I'm good. Getting 3 MPG better fuel mileage since the change. I also did plugs which is part of the reason, no doubt.

I thought the tick was normal. I always heard it with every 4cl taco I've seen on the road. 80's through now. I kind of like that mine does it, actually cause it tells me the taco kept its genes from the good ol days. I run pennzoil plattinum full synthetic and my motor loves it. My oil comes out cleaner and cleaner every time I change it. I was thinking of switching to 10w-30 at 100k but was told by someone with over 250k that they've used 5w for the entire life of the engine with no issues.

I had a 99 Tacoma 4x4 2.7l and switched all the gear oils out for AMS and never had any leaks or problems.
