Jerry can mount / tray like tire gate

Hey all, I am trying to figure out a good way to mount my jerry cans in the bed. I found this option from Tire Gate....except $100 per mount is a little ridiculous.... That's more than my scepter cans.

I like the tray idea....so that you can still have somewhat of a flat bed if you need to remove your cans and carry more crap.

I've been reading about other mounts on TW but none that I've found that are quite like this.

I would appreciate any ideas you have!

 

Do you need it to be lockable or just keep them from moving around ?

 

Lockable would be nice, but if the mount can't lock I will just run a cable lock through the handles.

 

I keep a Scepter MFC jerry can in the bed of my truck in my cap , I have s bed mat and as it turns out , the bed rail cleats are at exactly the right height to fit into the handles of a Scepter can , I use a bungie cord through the handles to the cleat , works great

I am using a tie down strap and a harbor freight bed divider. The part I like the best about the one I linked is the custom nylon webbing tie down. I am still toying with the idea.... And if I come up with something ill ask ya your beers per hour welding rate heh heh.

For the gauge I'd say either ship it me and I'll reimburse you at the next meet we are both attending or ill just get it at the next meet. Your call.

 

Check out a military surplus store for this. They fit the Scepter jerry cans 100% and some of them have holes for running cable locks through, or you can fab a bracket that locks over top of the cans.

Also, this is a Canadian G-Wagon. It's one of the better designed jerry can holders that I have come across. Might be a bit hard to see in this picture, but it has a metal bracket that secures the top of the jerry can with a padlock. Probably a better idea for a tiregate than inside the bed.

Those are all good ideas.... I'm just a picky sob because I want something that is secure, sort of removable if I want to use my full bed, and doesn't cost more than the jerry can itself heh heh.

I wish I could find that tie down they use for a better price... Oh well heh heh

I've thought about going the tire gate route tallon, you have any ideas for yours yet?

 

Got my bearing kit in the mail today, got some skids to finish then im gonna start my build, jus gonna build what I have drawn in my brain... gonna be whack!!
