    Polk Audio db691

    infinity Reference 9633cf
    6"x9" 3-way car speakers

    Kenwood Excelon KFC-X693
    6" x 9" 3-way car speakers

or just get some 2 ways that are the same price?

Well your taco already has 6x9s in the front with a tweeter. Although they technically aren't "components" from the factory.

The head unit will do fine with 6x9s. Just make sure the speakers are too power demanding. There are plenty of aftermarket speakers that don't require aftermarket amplifiers.

I upgraded my 6x9s with Rockford fosgates. A larger speaker like 6x9s are loud, but won't provide much low end. I was slightly disappointed. To counter it and get a little more sound I got speaker baffles and installed them. I also have the 6.5" rockford fosgates in the rear.

I had this setup for a couple months and just added a 10" woofer behind the rear seat. I love the setup now. Sounds great and didn't cost an arm and a leg.

edit: Oh and ps. I bought all my stuff from Amazon. Great prices if you look deep enough

if your planning on just a speaker upgrade with no amp, look for a speaker such as Infinity or PowerBass which use a lowe impedance coil to get more power from the deck, or look for a very efficient speaker with 90+ db of sensitivity.

I swapped my front speakers for Kenwood KFC-S6983 before changing my HU. Sounded better and louder but not enough for my taste. New HU made it even better. Now my hear hurts if a song has to much high notes...
