Do N-fab or similar step bars negate added lift benefit?

Meh, if you're going to spend almost the same money to get a part that mimics something else but doesn't offer any protection, might as well get the real deal. Even if you don't ever think you'll actually NEED sliders, for the same money, you might as well get it in my opinion.

 

How much were your sliders with the fill plates ?

I second just getting sliders. Actually, I saw in a post some clamp on steps for sliders. Can't remember who was making them but looked really cool. Could clamp then on until she pushes that monster out then when shes comfy/fit again, take em off.

 

Mine were pricey, but you can get the Trailgear ones with fill plates relatively cheap. I got BAMF ones so I think I paid mid $400's + shipping. I paid for the bolt on option and the fill plate option.

To the OP, I was in the exact same place as you a while ago with the exact same issues... Clearance,function,girlfriend,kid,Rubbing and kicking my NFabs lol. I pulled the trigger on a set of Body Armor steps and they worked out perfectly for all the issues i had. They tuck in nice but actually provide a useable step for the kid and gf, dont interfere with me in anyway, HEAVY duty and will provide light protect due to the steps being well made but they are still mounted to stock points so dont think they are sliders lol. But from what i gather your not really in the market for sliders but steps, and so was i.

 

Ha. You are correct on that guess. I can't complain too much...she did let me buy this nice truck just because of the baby (child seats didn't exactly fit in my 04 Xtra cab)

To the topic: I'm looking for something like the bolt-on sliders myself. I don't really need the full-on protection of weld on sliders, I just worry about if I want to take them off at some point.

N-Fab (I think) makes bolt on sliders that are pretty stout. Anyone have any experience with them?

 

I second the previous thoughts office your spending that kind of money get the sliders and a clamp on step option. I went with BAMF bolt on sliders with the kick out. My son hasn't had any problem getting himself in the truck with them. If you off road it would be in your best interest to buy sliders and know the truck is protected vs hope and find out at the body shop how much saving a little money is going to really cost you.

 

Took off my N-Fabs several months back. You will lose clearance. As well, they don't provide protection in parking lots either. I recommend getting sliders up front.
