I have an 01 3.4L 4x4 Tacoma and am looking to lift her up. She's my daily driver but I am stationed in AZ and like to take her off roading now and again. I've done tons of research and am down to Kings or ICON's...

I like the idea of the ICON's but I'm hesitant because it looks like guys have been having the hats snap in 2 while on the trails...
Although she'll be a DD, when I hit the trails I like to go hard and fast.. So

What are yalls experience with the ICON's? Im looking at 2.5 extended IFP Icons or w/ resi; Rear 2.0 Icon IFP or w resi
OR Kings 2.5 extended IFG front and 2.5 King resi rear..

Also, are the resi's worth it if your not racing and just driving hard in the dessert?

Many people say the resi's are good for even just standard wheeling (mild rocks, trails, etc) because it helps keep the overall shock temperature down with the suspension cycling so much.

A lot more information in this thread.

Even if theirs no resi in the front?

Why do you like your KING's so much?

SDHQ has told me if it is a crawler, resi's in the front aren't critical. They recommend resi's in the rear regardless.

If you are looking to do baja style, I'd probably go with the resi's in the front.

And if you have the cash, just go all out. (or OCD like me, which is why I'm going Icon all around.)

Is there any other way to lift a vehicle besides up? You can't lift it down.

Now with that out of the way, I would vote for Icon. I am running 2.5's with reservoir front and rear and I LOVE how they soak everything up offroad.

how long have you had them for? Do you take it easy when your off roading?
How much lift did they give you?

Sorry for all the questions just itching to get the right product on my truck

I'm in the same shoes as you with looking to get mid travel on my 02. My plans are icon 2.5 resis, tc or camburg uppers, deavers 8 pack leafs, and king 2.5 rear shocks. The reason I chose king for the rear is that way I will have 2.5 shocks all around and they won't heat up as fast. On my other Tacoma I had the icons in the rear and they would heat up really fast especially going fast through whoops and stuff. I wish icons would make a 2.5 shock for the Tacoma like they do with the 4runners. Also look into the fox coilovers because you can get a resi on those too. Good luck on your decision!

I've been running them for a year. I wouldn't say I take it easy on the truck off roading. Usually I go fast but I keep it under 70mph and the Icons can handle it pretty damn good. As far as the lift you can set it anywhere between 0"-3".

If you have any other questions let me know or hit up SDHQ. They could probably answer any questions you might have a lot better I would be able to.

i have been looking for mid travel. but i think i will eventually go LT so i might as well go LT first and save the money. i will probably go with king because, like Anthony250f said, They Pull Bitches haha. but depending on price i might go king or icon. thats what i narrowed down to also

By the way Gents, Let me school you on this so that it saves you down the road...
90% of women have no clue what goes on outside of the 3ft bubble they live in! I ride my sick little crotch rocket threw downtown University of Arizona and most chicks don't even blink an eye. THe moral is, buying cool stuff to pull bitches doesn't work unless it looks like your gna blow some money inside there little bubble! Lol
