BedRug not fitting?

Hey guys, I need some advice / input on the bedrug.

I bought my COMPLETE bedrug system, Bottom and the side.

I have a 2013 Tacoma Baja with the short bed, i got the whole thing zipped up, but when i install the 2 cubbie in the already made holes, the holes doesnt line up.... no matter how hard i try.....

Is this normal!??!?!

 

Mine is a long bed '08 and the rug fits fine.

Are you talking about the boxes near the tailgate, or the two cubbies over the wheelwells?

 

The wheel wells run all the way to the front bulkhead on the short bed, but even on mine, I don't see how it could be reversed.

 

I am talking about the cubbies closer towards the tailgate
There is only 1 way to zip the sucker up.... So I'm sure it is not reversed.

I tried it without zipping, and it it's perfect, but once is zipped it kind of shrieked like by a inch or 2 at the screw holes opening

 

Hey, this is Ryan from BedRug and if the part fits properly independently (prior to being zipped) but doesn't once everything is zipped together its possible the zipper alignment during production was incorrect. Love your product. Had one on my '06 Silverado, and now in the Tacoma.
Ran the Silverado without a shell for a couple of weeks (and it rained), but the Taco has always been covered.

One suggestion if I may... The composite bed of the Tacoma is not the same as steel (duh). A recommendation (or even inclusion) of an appropriate cleaner or wipe would be nice. I used Windex on mine and it seemed to be clean and oil-free, but I had issues with the Velcro not sticking to the bottom (no big deal)... thought the sides were okay, but a couple of weeks ago I opened the shell and one of the sides had "folded in"... Velcro had let go.
I stuck it back in place and it stayed put, but I would not trust the installation without the cap.

 

My bottom bed rug fits perfectly with no issues

You guys should try those 3M WHITE CLEAR velcro, those things are pretty strong too.

 

Howdy all - yes, given the bed is composite, I would highly recommend you use our hook fasteners (3M Dual Lock) for full performance. Our instructions simply call for isopropyl alcohol to remove wax, grease or oil from where the adhesive makes contact but I would also recommend a product called

$8 3M 4298 Adhesion Promoter, Sponge Applicator

3M 4298 Adhesive Promoter. You would still use isopropyl alcohol, let that flash off, then apply the adhesive promoter, let that flash off, then remove the red backing from the hook fasteners and apply to the vehicle. Allow to dry for up to 4-6 hours before pulling.

The 3M 4298 Adhesive promoter can be purchased online for around $3.00 per pack and you'll need about 4-5 of them. If any of you new a few pieces of replacement hook (velcro) just call our customer service department and they should be able to help you out. We sell a complete install kit with all the hook fasteners you need (like what came in the kit) for $30.00
