Not defending, just saying...I always used valvoline oil and Fram filters on my 85 Ranger (dad bought it new and used the same), that truck lasted 200,000 miles.

I use oem in the taco now...

There are always going to be success stories of people who used low quality products. I'm sure there are success stories of people who changed their SuperTech oil every 15,000 miles and are still running strong at 200,000 miles.

Anyway, I picked up 5 quarts of Penz Plat Synthetic and a Mobil 1 filter for $25.00. I actually picked up 2 of everything for $50.

    Saw it on TT :D

I'm not saying your car will blow up using a Fram.....The thing is most of us Taco owners who love our trucks will spend $$ for synthetic oils like Mobil 1, Amsoil, and Royal Purple. If that's the case why wouldn't you couple it to a great filter too

Mobil 1 makes a great filter too; however it's a bit pricey and overkill for our 5K mi oil change interval. I've found the Pureone offers what most user like about Fram (textured grip) but with better construction and great filtering capability. Amazon.com has 2 filter for $9.48 (PL20195 for the longer application). I buy that with a Fram air filter and fresh breeze cabin filter (Yes Fram makes an exceptional air filter) and I get free shipping. Purolator offers $3 back if you buy 2 filters; so I get 2 top notch filters for $3 and some change......to me that's a deal that can't be beat. FOr anyone who doubts how bad Fram's oil filters really are, take a stroll over to bobistheoilguy.com and read all the hooror stories for yourself. There are plenty of pictures to show you the construction of these pieces of crap.
