The parking break override makes it so I can watch DVDs while drivng. Or apparently some apps in app mode. But I don't have the cable for app mode so I don't know for sure.

I don't think mine dims but I think I couldn't figure out how to tie it into the dash dimmer. Doesn't bother me though.

And I use an iPhone 4 or 4s. Can't remember haha. The deck comes with a USB cord that allows you to plug in your regular iPhone charge cable to it. That will allow all kinds of playback other than video from your phone. Or app mode I think.

And yes it came with everything. I think I had to reuse the factory bolts that hold the stereo into the sleeve though. Can't remember for sure. Maybe it was I thought I had to use the factory ones but they didn't fit the new deck. Either way everything was there other than butt connectors for splicing the wires.

Did you get a wiring harness too? Makes it so much easier.

I'm definitely gonna have to do that parking brake override then :p
    Ooh HERE IT IS

How long is that USB cord? Isn't that in the rear of the head unit? So do you just route it into your glovebox, or did you mod up something to run to your center console/cup holders?

Butt connecters are fine, I have those in the garage. I didn't get a wiring harness... got a link to it?
I found THIS ONE but I don't know if that'll be compatible :notsure:

That's what I bought. Should work for you too. Just makes it so you don't have to cut up your factory wiring. You'll splice the bare wires from the stereo into it and then simply plug it into the trucks harness.

The USB cord is long enough that I routed it into the glove box and it will actually extend to my cup holder too if I want.

And I didn't use that override thing. I bought a small toggle switch from, you guessed it, west marine haha. I hooked the parking brake wire from the deck to one post and the other I grounded to a screw behind the dash. To make it work upon startup I flip the switch on for about a second, then off. And it works great.

Alright, I'll wait until the new unit comes & see if I can just use the old Pioneer single din head unit's wiring (hoping that'll be plug & play). If all else fails that linked wiring harness is Amazon Prime so I won't have to wait long-- thank god!

I really only looked at Pioneer and decided on the Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS head unit. I bought it off of Amazon, they had the best price of $325

Oh I've ordered them already haha. Don't you worry. The white ones are the M-series. Better UV proof powder coating and better stainless hardware. They'd look bomb on a white truck.

Yeah but hardly anyone has a white truck (1st Gen anyway) that's modding em out hard. I agree they'd look sick on a white truck.. but I think black goes with anything, black on black/red/white/gold/silver (ehh well maybe not silver as much IMO)

That Amazon link is a good price assuming it comes with the harness and whatnot.

    Damn, $230?! That's a steal.
When I ordered mine off Amazon they stiffed me $340, still an alright price but if I would've waited I could have $40 more in mod money  and yeah it came with the wiring harness and all that jazz

One thing to be aware Nathan is that the linked d2 is said to be 3,000 lumens (off road d2s)-- the product they're actually selling are like 2,300 lumens or whatever (driving lights). Still impressive lights, just something to be aware of.

I emailed them and wanted to return them the other week when I noticed the difference but I didn't hear anything back, so be aware of that too

Yeah it's a steal. My price on the larger bars is good too...but still more than I need or want to spend.

What do you mean they are actually 2300 lumens instead of 3000? I haven't heard that before.

Okay well I bought my d2s off of Amazon. They were advertised as 3,030 lumens in that particular sale so I figured great, brighter = better. I installed the wiring harness, checked that the lights worked (was amazed at how bright they were), and didn't look back since I was gonna install them on my Elite bumper when it arrives next month.

Well I was at 4wheelparts just dicking around and noticed Rigid Industries had 2 types of d2s-- 1 of them was advertised as Driving Lights with 2600 lumens and the other was advertised as Off Road Lights with 3,030 lumens.

I went home and checked to make sure I got the brighter d2s. Well sure enough they are these:
    null_zps366c5936_5fa4aa1aa627dd392cd11e3369a2627f438dc77a.jpg

Not a huge deal but I went to email the distributor through Amazon and return for the brighter ones but they never got back to me. I figured fck it since they were very bright anyway I'll just keep em. Next time I'm at 4wheelparts I'll snap a picture of the two boxes
