Strange sound from Gauge cluster/Dash

This is possibly going to sound crazy, but I have a 2013 Tacoma DCLB with 6000 miles on it. This evening I had turned the radio all the way down to where there was no noise but normal road noise. I was driving on back country roads at a decent speed poss around 35/55 in curves, and when going thou right hand curves I noticed I would hear a really faint tone. I stared to pay more attention, and it seems to be a faint tone coming from the drivers side dash/gauge cluster possibility. The tone would only happen while already into the turn and continue until I was out of the turn and strait again. This wasn't a beep sound like seat belt tone or any thing, it was a faint long one solid tone sound and would last all the way thou the turn and a few seconds out of it while driving strait then go away. Has anyone ever had or herd this while driving your truck? Any info or possibility to what i could be would be great. Thanks

That would be the same tone that my truck is doing, all stock by the way for now but hopping not for long

I'm pretty certain it has something to do with the VSC / Traction Control system , the tone occurs when the VSC / Traction Control parameters approach the point where the system engages

 

Thanks again for showing me the link. that's what it seems to be, and from the pdf that is attached to the form it looks like the dealer has to hook up a hand held scanner/computer to clear and reset the yaw censer after a front wheel aliment and would you know they just done a full aliment on my truck prob 1000 miles ago on my first service, because the aliment was off due to where I put those puck spacers in the truck to level it out. So do you think it would be bad to leave it this way or cause any problems to VSC if left this way?

 

I doubt it will cause any issues , just get the VSC system recalibrated as soon as is practical

 

some people on that form talk about it doing the same thing and it trying to kick in or pull them out of the curve into on coming lane, that sounds kinda bad

 

That is an actual VSC engagement , when that occurs the VSC light on the dash will flash , a beep sounds and you can feel an ABS like pulse in thr brake pedal

It's startling when you aren't expecting it

The VSC engages when the parameters of the various sensors lead the truck to believe you are going into a tail slide condition , when these parameters break their programmed threshold the system kicks on

The tone you are hearing , and myself and others could hear in the other thread is occuring as the VSC parameters approach the VSC threshold

 

That is what its doing for sure. they show a fix/mod that you can do to yaw censer under the console by making sure that it is level side to side and putting washers under the rear of the censer to give it a rake like the truck had from factory then zero the settings. Thanks again for the info, I will be taking care of the problem very soon.

 

That yaw sensor mod is for Tundras not Tacomas
