Just upgraded to a Volant Cold Air Intake System from my old XDI System that served me exceptionally well over the last few years. I was unable to locate a replacement filter as the XDI folded some years ago. The Volant install was smooth and easy. I had to go to the local hardware store and purchase three 8mm X 1.25 Thread Pitch, about 1" long to mount the air box as I threw away all hardware from the OEM system. The Volant is super quite but acceleration is super quick. I guess it is the ram air scoop. I purchased the Volant from New Level Motor Sports and it took about 7 days to get the system. There is a big demand for the system and Volant is a family owned business that works only 4 days a week. See my photo's.

What kind of performance gains, can one expect over the stock intake?

Forget EBay. Go to NewLevel Motor Sports website. I paid $344 and shipping is free. It may have gone up a few bucks as this system is really in high demand.

Not for sure yet. I just put the system on a couple of days ago. The 4.0 Engine in the Tacoma is a "get up and go" engine anyway. I would say that acceleration is definitely quicker. I feel the fuel economy should be better especially with the ram air injection scoop. I was getting about 17.5 to 18 before. I'll post my new MPG when I compute it.

here is my volant setup... gotta say i love it but if you really want gains. gotta get the URD MAF otherwise you will probably lose gas milage putting this thing on. but with my MAF calibrator i got exactly what i needed. right now im running 14-15 mpgs with my 8.5" lift with 35" mud grapplers no gearing. and about 16-17 mpg's on my stocks mostly city driving

Look pretty much like my Volant. Hadn't thought about upgrading MASS sensor. What a great ideal. Thanks!
