That didn't look bad, if youre close to the service interval I'd go ahead and do it.

Pull the filler plug and stick your finger in there to check the fluid. From my experience the rear diff fluid was nasty after 10k before I did the rear diff breather mod. Just changed it after 40k and it still looked good.

I would churn it up real good drivin then quickly check the fill plug. if milkshake pours out you know whats up.

if it sits long enough, the water will settle to the bottom. you could check it then by the drain plug but I think churning and checking the fill would be best.

if there is water in there, its over-full so you will know as soon as the fill plug is removed.

I think the subie is awsome! The driver not so much, i wouldnt let him ride my bike. From the looks of it he can tear some shit up.

The Subaru constantly breaks. He tries to keep up with us but just slows us down and makes us turn around when he needs to be towed back or winched.

    Subaru's aren't really designed for that. More.for.like safety.on different.road conditions
    But they're reliable vehicles.

From the looks of that water crossing, I think you're fine. But draining and refilling rear diff is not difficult. If it'll bring you peace of mind, do it.

Then change the fluid after a water crossing like that, as stipulated by the maintenance booklet.
