I know you got the Extreme version of the Tech Deck, did you install the back plate? In Alex's thread he said he didn't and he's using a tablet and phone. I'll be using a phone and GPS like you

I use an iPad mini on it too occasionally. I DID install the backplate but I had to modify it to work with the metra dash kit. One thing I like about having it attached to the bottom of the dash kit is that I makes removing the dash kit or ac controls easy. Just remove the 6 screws on the sides and tug on it.

Btw new mods to add to build thread eventually...

New headunit, front and rear speakers, ecgs solid bushing to replace front diff needle bearing.

I got infinity reference 6032cf for the front ($79/set)and kenwood kfc-1664s for the rear ($49/set). Crutchfield includes plastic speaker adapters for mounting and the wire harnesses that plug into the Oem speaker plug.

IMO the wooden speaker rings are more for an audiophile who has more expensive speakers and sound deadening. I just wanted better quality sound than stock.

Yea trace the mounting points from the old speakers and cut away. Usually speakers have a template on the box. The speakers are mounted with 10mm bolts and they're a decent length so you should be ok with 1/4" ply or something without even recessing the holes. Idk how important it is for the speakers to stick out from the door a certain amount. My front mounts are probably 3/4" thick and the rears are maybe 1/2"

having it stick out is most likely for the magnet...aftermarket speakers have much larger magnets than factory..

i think i'll have to do this...

Where did you mount the air compressor?

Thanks... There's a lot of details that haven't really been updated.. Most of the pics are outdated..

But anyway.. The ARB CKMA12 air compressor is on the driver side fender well behind the Oem fuse box. Fits great and all the wireharnesses are more than long enough from there. The air up kit hose reaches all 4 tires from there too, even with the dclb.

Thanks, you're the second one that has it there which unfortunately doesn't work for me with the intercooler reservoir there.

You could always put it behind the rear seat

That's #1 on the list right now just making sure there isn't other options I'm missing.

It's a small compressor, unless you got the twin. I'm sure you can fit it in the engine bay somewhere. Just play around until you find a spot that fits or if you don't have the compressor yet make a cardboard box the same size to use to find a spot where it fits.

I wouldn't mount it under the truck tho..

And if its in the cab and is used for lockers, you will smell gear oil. Plus you'd have to extend all of the wiring.

I would but I'm planning on putting a few air tanks there.

Should ship soon so I'll be able to play around with it. Yes going with F/R lockers.

I'd say the aero turbine muffler makes most of the noise. The y pipe is just to be able to fit skids. I suppose it does allow air to flow better though.
