My 2006 Tacoma has a "blacked-out" accessory panel, where the OAT and Compass live. Anyone had any experience with repair? A Toyota mech. told me failure was common with high mileage (142K), due to breakdown of the solder connections...said I might fix it if handy with a soldering iron, which I am. My plan is to pop out the panel and have a look, at least.

After communicating with the suggested party who fixes these things for a living, I decided to pull my Accessory Unit and send it to him for new resistors AND a pin-switch to control the dimming feature. I consider those pennies spent for a worthy cause.
