Hey guys so took my 2014 regular cab 4x4 in for service this week and the tech said my clutch is sliding, no shirt dumb ass.
I've been telling the dealer something was off with the clutch since 400 miles, at first just thought I had to adjust to it being such a light clutch, my other daily driver is a built 7.3 powerstroke with a duel disc south bends so it was a transition to say the least. I can drive standard, good enough that not one of my 8 diesels, 4 70's ford half tons, 3 broncos, my mustang, galaxy, or my last 6 toyotas ever had to have a clutch replace due to diver error. On top of that the state has certified I can drive standard since I have my CDL, and drive tractor. So the dealer says that the clutch is a wear part and is not covered by warrenty, honestly, 5k out of a clutch, and that doesn't raise a red flag to you. So after a nice talk with the dealer who I'm pretty sure cringes when they see me pull in, already had a discussion on why my aliminum toyota rims with stock size tires isn't a violation of warrenty since they were offered on Tacoma's from factory, said that I can take the truck to my buddy's shop to have the clutch job done since he only charges me 24 a hour vs the dealers wild labor cost. Has anyone else had problems like this with the new trucks I know the 2005-11 did and toyota said they fixed it then the 2012 had it again, so did they ever fix the problem clutches? Also looking for a good replacement clutch any suggestions?

it seems like the problem has never completely gone away. not sure if you have any other dealers where you are that you could visit and discuss this with. otherwise call the corporate office. i had mine replaced by dealer under warranty when slipping as did many many others so you should get the same treatment, 2014 or not the problem is the same it seems.

Yeah I'll call cooperate I guess, never had this problem on my last 2 Tacoma's. The dealer I've got is the only one around here, kinda bugs me that after dropping over 26 grand I they want me to now pay for a clutch job on something that's there fault. Really beginning to not like toyota anymore, first I can no longer get the trd package and v6 in the regular cabs, which was an option I had a 96 V6 trd regular cab, by far the best factory toyota I've ever owned, now it seems the trucks arnt as reliable as before.

I would try and get a regional rep out there. I know it will be like pulling teeth to get it to happen. They are really the only ones we can approve if the dealer is not wanting to grant you a honest repair.

I have not seen a 2013 or 2014 4cyl with the clutch issue yet but the older 4cyl had slipping issues for a good number of members.

Not following what you mean with the aluminum wheels and stock tires being a concern of warranty issue. Are they corroding? There is a common situation.

    Best of luck.

Dealer made a fuss because stopped by one day to see if I could get a trd exhaust for my truck since I hate the sound of the stock and figured if I went trd wouldn't mess up my warrenty the truck came with 245's on steels, I put 265 adventuros mts on the stock snowflake style rims, 265's come stock on the v6 trucks and the stock 245's are highway tires and weren't cutting it for me. Dealer said that the larger tires would put added stress on the axles and drivetrain? So I just threw the stocks back on for my service.
