Nice light. I have a couple of questions on your winch though. How the heck do you get the cable to wrap up straight? And doesn't that downward angle make for an awkward pull? I'm guessing there's rollers behind the bumper? Just curious. I'm not a serious "wheeler", but I've done some off roading for work and the FD in the past. Winching is an art for sure.

I'll answer some of this for you.

    1. There is no 'cable' on this particular setup. It is a Synthetic line. Think Braided Fishing line.

    2. That is whats called a Hawse Fairlead. Since it is polished, it provides less resistance for this particular setup and line.

    3. The angle isn't too important in this case.

    4. Keeping tension on your line when retracting it will assist in it winding in properly. Commonly after use of a winch, you would have to re-spool it to look tidy. With some practice, you will find you need to re-spool less and less. Guiding the line in properly upon completion of a recovery is pertinent too.

    5. In a synthetic line setup, the Hawse fairlead IS the rollers. SO there are no rollers in this setup. Rollers are always on the exterior, or outer most part of the winch setup. never are a Hawse Fairlead and a Roller fairlead used together.

Depending on the damage, you can buy a parts truck here:

    http://www.copart.com/c2/homeSearch...ESULTS&mainFilterSelect=#&filterZipCode=23321

Need to pay a broker to buy it for you and pay for the tow if you dont have a trailer. I was debating this for my truck but it just wasnt worth it for me in the end.

So I'm out of my Toyota care. Time to start doing oil myself. What oil do y'all recommend, how many quarts and I'm using Toyota oil filters. My last taco was a 4cilinder and didn't use too much oil. Don't know how many this one takes

I pick up the 5qt jug and a qt of Mobil-1. Don't forget to do you diff too since you're most likely at 30K.

I ran the first Mobil-1 change for 7500k or so miles. Sent the used into Blackstone and they recommend that I could go longer on it, IIRC about 10K.

I run Mobil1 to 10,000 miles on the same filter. No problems here but also no SC. With the charger I would keep doing what you're doing.

I figured out why ARB Compressor was :bananadead:

Some dumbass forgot that he had left an inline fuse on the power wire when he half assed the install.

Any time brother...I don't ever plan on changing my number, so you can still hit me up. I am sure we will come visit. Praying for a boy for you and your lovely bride. We wish you all the best down in SC. I am confident you are going to do great things down there. If you guys ever need ANYTHING please do not hesitate to ask! Thanks again for all your meet ups, and advice you gave me as well.

Thanks for the info. I learn something new every day. All of my winch experience was with cables and winches mounted on bumper extensions. Mainly my work trucks and brush fire trucks in my FD. We got ourselves and others out of quite a few predicaments over the years. We always tried to wrap the cable up under tension.
