The 30-pin cable that comes with it has a proprietary plug on the end that goes into the PA15 unit.

You'd probably have to use a 30-pin--->Lightning adapter.

Not sure if this is the same idea or not?
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/USED-OPEN-B...s-CARKIT-/400622864045?_trksid=p2054897.l4275
But I got mine thru Amazon for $62 a little over 3 yrs ago. Originally used it with my old flip Motorola Tundra mil spec phone. The car 12v charger for that phone worked for recharging the interface in the truck. It comes with a home plug in AC charger. The charge lasts about 6 to 8 hours of constant use (based on using it on long drives for hunting and fishing trips).
I joined the 21st century a few months ago when I upgraded to an IPhone 4S with an OtterBox mil spec cover. The unit performs flawlessly with the IPhone ... and the sound quality is even better than when I used it with the Motorola phone.

Another option to consider FWIW.

I was afraid of that. And i have a lifeproof case on my 5s so i'd have to use the apple AV to lightning adapter(30pin to lightning with a cord in between) which is $53. :( thank you for your help.

I was kind of hoping to stay away from bluetooth audio interface because i already have a bluetooth piece in my ear most of the time that i'm driving(maryland law, can't talk on phone with out a true handsfree device like a bluetooth ear piece). I'll keep my options open. Thank you for the sugestion!

Any reason why you're keeping the factory stereo? Aftermarket units, especially Pioneer, have great iPod/iPhone/Pandora control and with the addition of a PAC SWI-PS, you can control it all through your steering wheel controls.

My head unit actually still works great (knock on wood). And i'm not to savy with stereos and vehicle electronics so i'd rather not rig up a unit to fit the center until my headunit fails. I'd also not like to pull my headunit apart tp run an AUX cable like 09+ Also, i'm base model, i have no steering wheel controls :(

Thank you for your sugestion though!

I would love to do an aftermarket unit in the future, just not any time soon.

I have the GROM. It works well. I bought the USB connection as well as the iPod/iPhone. I leave a flash drive full of music in there all the time.

They have one with usb? Holy crap...i didn't know that. I'd imagine with a usb port on the device, i could attach any of my apple data cables to it

    Thank you for the info!

Just so you know ... there's no ear piece. It works hands free tuned to an FM freq and has a speaker and microphone built in. It'll function independent of the radio if you choose. I use it as my hands free device in the truck even when I'm listening to a radio station. I'm sure you'll find the right solution for you. Good luck.

I know. I don'f want to have to sick the mic some where in my dash. And why use its bluetooth when i already have an ear piece? I guess i could just not pair it to my phone and use it through the radio like a non-bluetooth model? Hell i don't know.

    Thank you again though.

From what you mention about no controls on the steering wheel and not wanting to change your head unit, you might look at the:
    Kinivo ‑ BTC450 ‑ Bluetooth hands‑free

I found it at the recommendation of another thread on this forum. I have been using it for about 3 months flawlessly. It plugs into your aux input, allows track changes when listening to music and has a power plug that also accepts USB charging and Siri commands.

Downside you mentioned is that you have to stick it to the dash, but......

Just offering another option to your question. I'm sure you will make the choice that suits your needs the best.

    Good luck in your quest.

    Understandable.

Just so you know, however, these trucks are some of the easiest to swap out head units (or even just remove to add to the AUX). If you can, try to find a TW member near you who has experience. If you weren't on the opposite side of the country, I'd be more than happy to spend an afternoon walking you through the process with a couple of cold beers.

Thats a cool option but similar to what i have minus the bluetooth ability. I'd kind of really prefer the ability to skip songs through the head unit buttons so i don't get a ticket when a cop thinks i'm texting when in reality all i did was change a song on my device. Thank you for the idea though. And thank you for the luck, i needs it :)

I started pulling it once and got super worried that i'd mess something up so, that should tell you my electrical experience. Lol. I appreciate the notion....though you'd be handling the beers, i don't drink ;)

Actually, another reason for not adding in an 09+ aux port is because i hear of people having them wear out and have to be replaced, with my luck i'd be doing it ever 6 months....lol. I think you can see that i'd rather just plug a unit into the back of my headset and be done... Thanks again.

I have the us spec, used it for the last 4 years flawlessly.
Easy to install, works with the oem head unit, steering controls, all my apple gadgets, and a aux for when I plug in my laptop.
A great upgrade if you do not want to replace the stereo
    Cheers
