    Gadget,

Thinking about purchasing a CAI, headers and exhaust systemfor my Tacoma 4x4 TRD DCLB automatic. My primary intent is to increase MPG aswell as horsepower/torque.

Do you think these comments from this posting on ToyotaWorld forum could be accurate (it is what I am looking to achieve at least to some extent). "I just put JBA shorty weld on header on my 2010 4.0 andimmediately felt the gains. I also have a KN cai and a power aid TB spacer.True it's much debate that the only thing the TB spacer does is whistle, but itwhistles much more now due to the restrictive stock headers being removed. Thestock headers came out to an oval shaped 2 1/4" pipe then reduced downinto the cat to less than 1 7/8". Very restrictive. Now that I had a littlecustom weld work, the headers go into the cat at 2 1/4" all the way. Ifeel the increased power and I have a difference at the pump as well. I do theformula where you take the gallons you fill the tank up to divided by miles.Went from 17-20 mpg to 18-23 mpg. Damn good for a V6 truck if you ask me. Ihaven't checked the highway mileage yet, but I am interested to see what theoutcome there is. Also noticed that before 80 mph I would be at 2500 rpm in anautomatic, now I have 2500 rpm at 90 mph. Don't judge my driving habits, Istill get passed on us 202 and I 95. So the combination of all my bolt on modsmakes these differences, but the headers make the hugest impact compared to thevery restrictive stock components."

Plan to also consider purchasing the URD MAF as well as TBspacer if the first mods work out as planned.

If you think I can meet this goal please provide me with arecommended CAI, headers and exhaust system for purchase.

    Thanks,
    John Evans

I would not waste money on a throttle body spacer. Those seem to be the biggest rip offs in the industry.

I have seen an MPG increase with the URD Spec-U headers over what I had on before. MPG in normal driving jumped up 2 MPG in normal driving and 1 MPG on long trips at over 75 MPH.

The URD MAF Sensor Calibrator has always been the best performance value on the market. You get a nice performance gain and depending on your combination you can pick up some MPG. Tuning is the secret to everything.

I have maps for many of the popular intakes for the 1GR, URD, Old TRD, aFe, K&N 63, and the problematic New TRD.

What is problematic about the new TRD? Toyota seems to have really lagged when it comes to coming out with a CAI for the truck and I wondered why?

The new TRD intake makes the engine run very lean and many people get codes set for lean condition.

I have a map for our URD MAF Sensor Calibrator for the new TRD intake, and it is very surprising how much I have to increase the signal to get the engine to run correctly.
