Ticking Coming From Blower Motor (Help Needed)

I recently noticed there's a ticking noise coming from my blower motor at all speeds. I took it out to see if there was anything causing the noise and then took it apart and tried to clean it. Should I just replace it at this point and should I go with an OEM replacement?

 

I had this problem with mine twice. Both times I took it to the dealer(warranty). They replaced it the first time but the second, they said that it was a gasket of some sort. Let me look in my files and I will let you know.

 

Thank you my truck is no longer under warranty being an 05, A TSB is just a notification and doesn't discount a replacement part or anything like that?

mine ticked, did this and no tick for about 6 months till it came back. Repeat as needed. takes all of 20 minutes.

 

The newest blower motor has bearings instead of bushings, so no more ticking. The bushing fixes above help, but I hate fixing things more than once. The new blower motor is about $110 online.

 

Is this ticking the same as the chirping? I need to bring my '11 in to deal with my blower motor squirrel...

But the TSB does mean the dealer is less likely to fight you on it and try to say it's something else.

Yes. The '11 has the old blower motor with the bushing. (I have an '11). The new motor has a bearing. Hopefully you are still under warranty. When you go to the dealer make sure they put in the new motor, and not the old style that they might have sitting on the shelf. Double check this, but I think the part number for the new motor is

87103-04043 is the right part. I ordered one and it works much better. I thought speeds 1-3 were quieter. Speed 4 sounded louder though.


My dealership i bought the truck from pissed me off though. I had been doing the just grease it method but once i found out the new motor was actually a fix i went in. Now my "3 years" was up December 19th. I though no big deal its the 22nd they will help me out. Nope. I got told i was no longer under warrenty and would have to pay for the part and labor myself. I just stood there a bit dumbfounded...it was 3 days....tried talking to the manager who said the same exact thing. Wouldnt even offer me a discount. Or even a price match to camelback toyota who had the motor for like 115.. So i walked out of there. Ordered it from camelback and installed it myself. Wrote a letter to Corporate as well. I didnt expect my dealership to cover everythign but i expected at least some sort of sympathy.


And its weird cause 3 months ago they were super helpful when my battery just decided to die. Hooked me up with the tow truck and replaced the battery with the TRD one and did my oil change all in 30 minutes or so.
