All-Pro Long Travel Review

I just got this kit. The flap you made, is it like a dust cap for the uniballs? Also, how hard was it to grind the inner CV's? Would it be easier to just use limit straps?

 

@Spoonman: Are your CV parts Toyota OEM or aftermarket?

Don have pics, but it's just a flap out of some stuff I used for my inner fender liners.

Essentially yes. It just keeps the majority of the crap out of the uniball. Grinding the CVs was easy with the right tools. However it didn't solve my problem. Limit straps would be a lot more effective.

 

What was the total lift on that kit? What did you do to level the rear?

 

Could be from zero inches of lift to about 5. The walker evans coilovers are adjustable. I set it at about 2.5 to match the rear.

 

What setup do you have for the rear? Shackle flip? Springs?

 

Standard Allpro 3" leafs. No shackle flip. Gives about 3" lift, but they've sagged out a bit now.

 

I'm looking to go with the expos. Other than sag, no issues with the leafs though?

 

All the Allpro leafs I've seen are sagged, inverted, wavy, or have broken leafs. I'm looking for an alternative to the the Allpro expos.

My left side leaf sits about 1" lower on the drivers side. I know of taco lean, but this is excessive.

 

great review, and I'm sorry that you're having so many annoying issues. I know the feeling when the thing you built breaks down because of other's problems. I'm on 20,000 miles on my all-pro kit up front, so far no hiccups other than I got sent 2 left hand spindle gussets the first time around.
I stuck with the stock steering, with no issues. My kit has to keep up with a recently new defined engineering rear end, so we will see how it holds up. It's a great kit (I fucking love cornering on mine too haha) and I hope that all-pro helps you get your problems figured out. On that note, how can you tell if you're uniballs have any play? I regularly throw my shit up on jackstands and check for play, but would there any other signs (noises, loose steering, etc.) Limit straps are next on the list now haha so thank you Spoonman!! Braaaaaap

The uniballs will be completely obvious if they're worn out. If it's hanging in the air, there will be physical movement of the tire.

I'm so glad I read this! I have had problems with uni-balls. They say don't get them dirty?!?!?!? That's a bunch of crap, mine get dirty just driving on the street. I wish everyday the my truck was stock so I didn't have to deal with this BS.

 

Nice review. I have the older Walker Evans coilovers and noticed a good amount of spring fade. Ive had to adjust the height a few times. Apparently im not as tall as i thought i was and they still have some crank left so ill be doing that soon. So far it rides great though i will say that.

Sucks to hear about the troubles but glad to see you're at least being taken care of and seems they have slowed with the issues.

Thanks. Ya know, the arms are really stout. If you go a different route on coilovers, you could have good luck with the Allpro kit. I don't know if Allpro has improved their customer service, but I found that was lacking back wen I was dealing with them a lot. I was told I would be getting a set of free limit straps to eliminate straps, but that didn't happen. However this may not be allpros' fault. I was told this through a middle man from who I bought the kit. I was hoping they would do something to resolve the future axle problems.


I would look into Total Chaos. They make an amazing product! I'll have a review up for TC once I install and have some time to play with it.
