Id like to see how the visibility is on them as well.

how easy is the BHLM to do? ive read a couple threads on that mod, doesnt seem too hard, and was interested in doing it.

 

The only issue i saw reported was one guy had signs of the chrome melting a little inside the housing, but to me that seemed very minor.

 

BHLM is pretty easy, for me it was nerve racking when I put the first one in the oven but after I saw it didn't melt I was good. Just follow the thread & take your time & plan on the truck being down for at least a day. You gotta let the paint cure so the fumes don't fog the lenses.

 

awesome, ya thats why I was wanting to do it today since today and tomorrow are my weekend and I wasnt planning on doing anything this weekend

EZ-PZ! I've had mine apart twice now and will probably take them apart this spring.

 

To me, taking them apart and resealing them was the easy part. My issue was with the paint. Next time i will buy better paint.

And Chris, i used a windshield silicon to reseal mine after i put them back together in the oven. Worked like a charm. I haven't had any moisture in mine at all since doing them. Just a heads up. I can find a pic of the stuff if you want me to.

 

Mine are fine, I used the same stuff the second time around. The first time there was plenty of the original stuff left.

Probably going to color match and debating painting the bowls right now.

 

ya that would be awesome if you could, thats about the only thing that I dont have, so once I get my grille sanded down after all this bondo crap, Ill get it painted and head to wherever has that silicon get it and start the mod.

Would I place the gray half that would have the silicon on it in the oven to heat it up like the mod thread does with the rubber butyl? or would I just be able to apply the silicon and apply pressure to the plastic piece once the silicon is applied

 

I used the GE silicone like in the how to & I got it at wally world. I applied it to the seam after they were back together & have had no leaks.

 

This is what i used. Can't remember how many, but i think i used 2 tubes per light.

$8 Permatex 81730 Flowable Silicone Windshield and Glass Sealer, 1.5 oz.

Not exactly sure what you mean. I put mine in the oven at the end to reseal it. After it was back together completely with screws and all is when i used the silicon and let that dry at least over night.

Can you guess what Im doing this weekend..

 

If it starts to fog up after using silicone don't worry. Silicone will off gas and give out moisture when curing.

X2 I used the factory sealant when putting them back together & finished with silicon.

 

well I think this is the best I am going to get the bondo on my grille, i dont think its too bad for messing with bondo for the first time, time to paint it now!!!
