This seems to be one of the better threads: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/259946-trd-off-road-vs-trd-sport.html

I think I'm going to go with the TRD Sport and add a locker later if desired, but at this point I don't think I'll ever be in a position to need the locker/A-TRAC. It will be my commuter vehicle so the Sport's LSD should do better for me day-to-day (right?), and then used for light to moderate camping with the family. No crawling, no mudding.

Yeah you won't need a locker for any of that.

    Thanks fellas.
Now I just have to wait 6 more days to see what this "TRD Pro" stuff is all about.

If you like the "LOOK" of a 6 ft, but you can get away with a bed extender,
I would go with a Double Cab Short Box, TRD OFF Road edition.

Unless your a contractor or trades person that need to room to
haul some cargo and tools, a 5.5 ft box is plenty. Besides,
the DCSB can get around better than a Long box truck when
    you go mudding.
