Anyone ever wire aftermarket fogs into the stock switch (cough, mike)? I was wondering if i can run my own relay and splice into the wiring into the back of the switch. Connect the switch to my relay, and maybe use a add a fuse to the power in for the switch, would that essentially work as a fog light anytime? So i would be leaving the stock illumination wire and ground i think? Not really sure how it will work out because i haven't messed with the switch yet.

We looked at Petsmart too..they donate the store space to shelters there. Going to a shelter I knew I'd want to take them all home haha. Linda really wanted a kitten, but we figured once we get him integrated at home we can do that perhaps. There were 2 kittens we did like (4 months) but they had to go together. Not sure if Scratch would like that so much...she's hissed at Salem but he's taking it in stride.

Picking up Kendra's bumper from your guy in RI :D

Might look into mounting my lights, we'll see how warm it actually gets...
I've wired aftermarket lights into a stock switch, it certainly can be done but I have to ask why because there might be a much easier way to go about it. If the stock wiring can handle the aftermarket lights, why not just splice the lights in and do the fog light anytime mod rather than messing with the wires in the dash (they are tiny wires and very short making them a PITA to mess with).

What lights are you trying to hook up to the stock switch?
Congrats on the new addition to your home!

Piaa 510s. I figured the would have to much draw at 55w a piece i believe. Maybe i could switch up my plan and use the stock switch for my LEDs which is a total of 90 watts.

55W seems to be the breaking point for the factory wiring harness. Some people have run them fine, some people keep blowing fuses so best not to chance it.

90W will run just fine, just make sure LEDs don't have a large initial spike like HIDs (I don't think they do but I'm new to LEDs).

Here's the wiring diagram for the factory fog light switch:

    1. Top - ground
    2. Power input
    3. Illumination power
    4. Bottom - Power output

1 and 3 should be green and green w. white just to check my wiring, those are the 2 wires that control illumination of the switch. You'd splice the parking light wire and run that to #2, then run #4 to your relay.

#4 from the switch runs to #86 on your relay
    Ground 85 on you relay
Run fused power to 30 on your relay (15A fuse)
87 is power out to your lights

Awesome, thanks! I will probably try the stock wiring first and see if i pop the fuse, if i do then i might just pop that switch out and run my own wiring/relay/fuse to it. If i do that i might try to keep the stock groud and illumination then use a add a fuse for power in. Ill figure out something that works.

Don't run the power through the switch, it won't take it. An easy way to do it is to take the stock wiring (at the fog lights), cut the end off, wire the 'hot' wire to 86 on your relay, run the ground to 85 (or just cap the ground wire and run a separate ground wire to pin 85), run a 15A fused wire to pin 30, then run 87 to the lights. That would give you the same stock function without messing with any of the wiring in your dash but allow you to run a higher draw lights.

I know, it's pretty terrible. $0.12/rnd is outrageous, even by retail standards! He was selling some .22lr earlier and I tried to get him closer to the $0.05 - $0.06/rnd and he wasn't having it. Supply and demand I suppose...
