I am trying to find a new laptop, would like to keep it under $400 is possible.

Don't use it for anything more than Email, Microsoft Office, Facebook, iTunes.

I have an Xbox One, so I dont do PC Gaming, and I have an external HD for movies and music.

I am looking on Amazon and Best Buy, but Im just not really sure of what all the Specs mean and what will be good.

I got my wife a Netbook 2 years ago and the thing is slower than a sloth to open files, pictures and web pages ever after i updated the Memory on it.

my laptop now works great when it actually works, it just freezes and crashes anytime i open a page that has imbedded videos from sites like twitter, instagram, vine etc.. only seems to be able to handle youtube.

So if you can give some feeb back on the subject it would be great.

I'm no expert but I would think that would be fine for what you're wanting to do.

yeah that sounds good if you are just doing basic tasks. if you really wanted you can look at a computer with a I3 or I5 cpu which would be a little quicker and handle more. but the celeron has a good track record.

I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for in regards to laptops. If you can't afford it, I'd wait and get something at least with an i3, but preferably an i5. I know the new AMDs are impressive, but I haven't had any real world experience with any in a long time.

Celerons are garbage, imho I wouldn't get anything without an i3 i5 or i7.

Acer is a very good brand. The only thing that is lower on that is the processor. But otherwise not bad.

I'm an IT professional also and agree; Don't ever buy a Celeron processor they are junk. You should be able to get an Intel i3 or an AMD A6 processor for around $400. The rest of your specs look ok.

I've had my Alienware M14xR2 for almost 2 years now and it hasn't slowed down yet. I will admit that part of the cost is for the name. But honestly it's worth it to me.

Try to go with a Thinkpad, if its within your budget... will last and easy to fix if anything does go wrong.
