I went down to the local sound shop for a front mid/low and high speaker package. I'd like to throw in an amp, but not get a new headunit. The guy tried to sell me on German Maestro 6.5" components with 1" tweeters for $350. I looked up all the popular speakers and never came across this type. Has anyone heard of these?

I'm looking for component speakers w/amp to play my music LOUD!!! I primarily listen to metalcore: Sylosis, Parkway Drive, Lamb of God, so I don't need earth shattering bass. My budget is $350 for speakers and another $300 for the amp.

    Suggestions?

I haven't heard of German Maestro so I can't help you there. However, I do listen to metalcore. In my old car I had some Infinity Reference speakers and they were too bright. I'd have to turn the volume down because the higher frequencies were a bit too much with some bands. When I'd listen to We Came As Romans, Blessthefall, or other metalcore/screamo bands I had to turn the volume down during the singing parts because the Infinities were too bright. The Devil Wears Prada's Zombie was one that I couldn't turn up very loud at all because of the speakers being too bright (which made me mad because its really, really good). At lower volumes, they sounded nice and crisp. Just once I turned it up the higher frequencies were overbearing.

I haven't listened to any metal on them, but the JL Audios I've previewed at stores sound really good. You might check out Focal too. And if you there's a dealer near you that carries them, check out Hertz. Most of Hertz's speakers are out of your price range (and mine too) but their less expensive ones are still really good. If there's a store with enclosed rooms where you can listen to the speakers, go there first. Stores like Best Buy where you're just in one big area doesn't lend itself to good sound from any speaker.

I have not heard Maestros, but from what I've read they're made by the same company that built MB Quart speakers before they were bought out by another company. Supposedly great sounding speakers.

I would recommend the Image Dynamics CTX65CS. A high quality product for the price. And although you don't need earth shattering bass for metal, you do want a good kick in the chest. The midbass on these ID speakers give a lot of kick. Tight, controlled bass that plays loud. Use the money you saved to splurge for an Alpine PDX-F6. Bridge for 300W/channel and you will never run out of steam. Set the HP for your midbass around 80Hz to be safe.

    Audio, lots of it
Go for a set of focal iss690 for the front. It is a 2 way 6x9 separate that will replace the tweeter as well. Go for a jl jx360/4 amp and take the money you saved not maxing out the budget on speakers and amp and get a small sub, something like a pioneer tsxw251 or jl cp108lg-w3v3.
