I'd honestly recommend you look all the lift options and decide based on what you will use your truck for.

I like the way the 6" suspension lift looks, but I dont like the idea of the DB (Drop Bracket), Id rather stick witha 3"-4" suspension lift and go mid travel/long travel and get real ground clearance. you can still fit 295s with an aftermarket suspension setup or hell...even bigger

im running a Rough Country "3in" suspension lift at the moment, more like a 2.5-2.75 level really (it was only $250). I have plans for an entire new aftermarket suspension setup that should yield me more than 3", hopefully around 3"-3.5". or if I wanted to I can go get the maxtrac spindles (Prerunners only) that give you 4" lift and then get a set of leaf springs with an AAL to level it out.

but I only have the RC right now because of a tight budget when I started modding my truck out, my new setup will include Icon Extended Travel Coilovers (0-3.5" lift), Total Chaos Upper Control Arms, Allpro rear leaf springs with Fox 2.0 shocks in the rear. So my truck should be sitting higher than it is now with my so called lift. The RC recommends 265s which I have on right now, but the Icons suggest 285s, which 295s and 305s would just need a tad bit of trimming to fit.

If your going for a 6" your obviously going for looks. It don't think 6" is all that functional. If your going for looks drop bracket lifts look nicer. If u plan on wheeling go the other route..

ya see thats the main reason i didnt go with the 6", thats what I originally wanted, but then I was reading up on the DB lifts and people were saying stay away from them (they do look nice though)...so thats why I like the idea of going mid/long travel and getting somewhere around 3"-4" of true lift and I have the ground clearance compared to the DB lifts.

I've been looking at 6 inch lifts for about a month. From what I've read a guys I talked to Pro Comp and Fab Tech seem to be the best. I talked to Pro Comp and the were very helpful. The also beef things up a little more to off-road . With pro comp you have to go with 18 inch wheels with 4 to 5 inch backspace to clear beefed up steering knuckles

Be careful what the people at pro comp tell you. There are plenty of guys that have been fed some BS at pro comp, including myself that has turned me off and away from them. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/293953-pro-comp-k5075b-3-lift-kit-coils-opinions.html

iF YOUR DEBATING PRO COMP OR FABTECH, I WOULD GO WITH FABTECH.. THEIR PARTS ARE A LITTLE BIT BETTER FROM MY UNDERSTANDING.. I WAS GOING TO GO PROCOMP BECAUSE ITS CHEAPER WHERE IM FROM, BUT ULTIMATELY WENT WITH THE FABTECH AFTER TALKING TO PLENTY PEOPLE..
