Just got a double cab and I plan to have my dogs ride in the back. For the most part I will keep the back seats folded down flat. Does anyone make a nice rubber cargo mat that will fit over the seat backs? I checked Weathertech and Husky and didn't see anything, just mats for the floors.

I was afraid of that. I guess it's time to rig something up. Thanks!

I have found just using some old towels the best option. I can fold them up to hold items in place. Can easily shake them out when dirty. Plus its always handy just to some towels for spills and such. Plus if all the sudden you need to use the back seats its no big deal to fold them up and out the way.

Have 2 companions that are usually traveling with me (Setter and Weimaraner) which is why I got the double cab and keep back seat permanently down. You have a lot of options so regardless of your budget, you should be able to come up with a solution perfectly satisfactory to your canines.

Below is a link to Ugly Dog Hunting. Quality of their equipment is usually very good. I'm seriously considering the scrub snoozer bird dog bed for the back as I spend a lot of time with the dogs in my truck. Also, the mud river shotgun utility mat looks like a good seat cover (my Weim likes to sit next to me on long trips.) There is also a Mud River utility mat that may be an option for you.

I got a $20 black rug from wall mart and cut it to size. I usually have one or all of the seats folded down for work crap. Just folds up for storage behind seats when all of them are in use. Only used half it, still have enough for one more.

Just a thought, but I know that others have used some horse stall matting as a bed mat. Could probably do something similar for the seat backs. Just depends on if you just need a non-skid surface, or want something a bit more "comfortable" for your friends.

I plan to copy what some others did here and get a hammock and then lay a cut to fit piece carpet down for extra protection and comfort for my dogs.

Thanks, that looks like it will work nicely. Our two small dogs aren't an issue really but the big guy has hip issues. I need something in the back that won't cause him to slip and slide every time I turn or brake.

For the moment I've used the carpeted floor mats that came with the truck and put those down, then a blanket over top. The mats grip the seat back pretty well so the blanket doesn't shift around as much.

Thanks for all the input everyone. And special thanks to 00PowderSpecial for pointing out that thread. I went to the building supply store after work and built myself one of those.

Hey PowderSpecial, nice solution. I just ordered, the old fashion way, a 2020 Tacoma Limited. I like your solution, will this work on 3rd gen?

How much weight do you reckon you can put on those back seats when folded down?

I feel like the plastic back paneling has a bit of flex to it, but maybe it's just me.

Oh thanks, thats good enough for me.

I haven't used mine much and I questioned it's durability.

Figured no harm in seeing how other peoples mileage varied. :)
