Nice, cool to see your early prototype, especially done without a stocked production shop.

    Sweet plate LOL.

I think it looks good, more refined once painted, and the light integration is well done as well.

Picked up a new hood today. My cheapo broke in class and I needed to get a new one ASAP. I think the sensors went out because it kept on flashing me. I couldnt wait till Friday when I got paid so I couldn't get the Miller Elite that I wanted. This will work nicely though. So much nicer than my $40 northern tool hood. It'll match my Lincoln Ranger 250 nicely :D uploadfromtaptalk1393310906845.jpg

Ive had mine for almost 3 years now, got me through school just fine and im still using it everyday. Headgear took a dump about 6 months ago but replaced it for 20 bones and its like a new hood again.

Not a huge fan of the head gear now that I've worn it for a couple of hours. You'd think for $220 they could put some cushioning where the back of your head is like the Miller Elite. Other than that I really like the lens. Crystal clear, large viewing area. Adjustable sensitivity so it won't darken when grinding is also a nice feature.

Relentless Armored! Too many others to list.
Just grab a couple of these and add them to the hood. Makes them 1000x more comfortable

My LWS sells them for about the same price, check in with yours. They'll likely carry BSX gear as well. :)

Too ropy from what I can tell. Looks like more heat is needed.

    Besides that, pretty nice unifomity.

Pause a little longer on the edges, then haul ass to the other side. You don't need to spend much time in the center.
Why can't it be over 5/8? I've made welds well over 5/8. No offense to welding instuctors, but I've only met 2 that seen 3 that were any good at welding and teaching. Welding instructors come take tests at our shop all the time, and fail miserably. Had them from 4M Welding School, Tulsa (grinding) Welding School, Oklahoma Technical College, Pipeliners Union training facility, Wyotech. I'm sure I'm leaving some out. You'll learn WAY more spending a couple months as a helper than you will in school. I went to Tulsa grinding school, and it was an absolute joke. Luckily I was a helper before going there, so I was able to practice what I had learned from being a helper.

Yeah I say more heat also. Spending too much time in the center too. The edges are not tied in the base metal. Spend more time on the sides. Id try side to side movements.

Make sure you are pausing a little bit on the sides so it burnes in. Wanna be able to see the puddle wash into the side.

That 5/8" thing sounds like a bunch of bullshit. Just because it's a big weld doesn't mean its not strong.

My welding instructors are awesome. Both have been welding 40+ years and made shit tons of money doing it in countries all over the world, worked for NASA, etc. My main professor Dewayne Roy has written multiple textbooks on welding. One thing he's said is that most welding instructors are a joke and hardly know enough to teach a class out of a book.
