This is still one of the favorite mods I have done on my truck and is totally quality. I purchased the optional tow hook. The original post called for a 3/4" shackle with 7/8" pin. I ordered a 7/8" Smitybuilt D-Ring from Amazon (which is supposed to have a 7/8" pin. When I got it the pin is too large to fit into the hole on the tow hook. I took a caliper to the pin on the Smittybuilt D-Ring and it was just about 1" exactly. I also test fitted a few various items (deep sockets, etc.) measuring about .86 inches and they fit in perfectly (it was hard to get a measurement on the inside of the tow hook with the textured powder coat. I am going to try to order the 3/4" Smittybuilt D-Ring and see if that fits instead. I will post the results if anyone is interested.

I did the same thing. My 3/4 shackle will be here tomorrow, I'll post pics.
I'm thinking the 3/4" shackle generally has a 7/8 pin and 7/8" shackles come with a 1" pin.

A 3/4 fit perfectly in mine.

If you want top quality shackles I've found that Crosby makes the best ones. They have a really, really neat matte black finish that blows away the thick powder coated versions. My thick powder coated one came chipped since they packaged it poorly. You can see it in the above pick on the bottom, though I derped the whole thing since it was glossy.

The finish on the Crosby one is amazing.
