Same basic thing here. They're all obfuscating about it, but the bottom line is that we'll either get dusted or dumped on, without much of an 'in between'.

Seems about par for the course. They lose a plane full of people, can't predict whether we'll get a foot of snow or none, but the nsa knows when you're taking a dump and browsing TW at the same time

Well, nobody in the gov't cares about snow storms or missing Malaysian jet liners. Your bathroom habits, on the other hand...those fit right in with our political system.

    On another note;

    Damn...
People in Connecticut are SERIOUS about their strip clubs...

Just found out I get to go to west Virginia in April to do some structure spotting. Unfortunately, the only way to get around will be via atv...

That's awesome! I definitely wouldn't mind riding around on an ATV all day for work.

ATV-ing around West Viriginia in April? My heart bleeds for you to have to ride an ATV through such pretty country in the spring...

Thanks for posting, Pugga! It was starting to feel like the "Seth & Noel Show" in here, and ain't nobody going to watch that.

Happy to help out. I was busy all weekend dealing with water damage on the house. To top if off, my parents were in town so we still went out and did family stuff so I'm wiped today...

F150 is doing great though, bought a new tool box for it to keep all my stuff out of the cab. Just a Lowe's special plastic bin but it has holes in the lip so you can bungee it in place and supposedly load up to 200 lbs on it.

    Like one of these? IMG_20130216_113316_096_zps578d052c_a09f9dd8f86afd4f6aa16639113276082d2dbf1c.jpg

I really like it. Easy to take out when you need to, not dust proof but close enough. And it seems water proof. I wouldn't submerge it, but it's never hit wet inside from rain/snow

Sounds like a good time. Ice dam back up thru the roof or something? I've got a buddy who had that happen after the ice storm we had around Christmas time; the cellar looked like a shower the inside walls were leaking so bad. I slapped him around verbally and told him that one of the joys of home ownership with a shingled roof was getting up there and shoveling the damn thing off every so often.

Edit: Never mind; I just went back and looked through the posts from this weekend.
That's shitty; Was it leaking from the drain, or what? I see you had to rip up tile and everything too.

    Nope, like this:
It's not waterproof or dust proof (no gaskets) but it's under a tonneau cover so there's really not much it'll be subjected to anyways. I bought it because of the padlock holes, it's easy to bungee in place and I can stack stuff on it if I ever need to. I just wanted to get everything out of the cab.
Nope, thankfully no ice dam issues. I had water leaking from around the tub upstairs down into my nice, new kitchen. I had water literally running down one of the pendent fixtures (luckily the fixture is right over the sink so the water just ran right into the drain). The tub is back in use now but there's still a hole in the ceiling with fans blowing in to dry out the framing and sub floor.

I ended up having to rip up tile by default. I was pulling out all the old caulking and the tile started coming with it. That's when I put 2 and 2 together and realized where my leak was. The bottom row of tile had come loose and was letting water in behind it. Kendra had washed the tile walls so she put a lot of water on the walls where it normally doesn't go and it was getting behind the tile and down to the first floor ceiling.

Damn, that's a bummer. Nothing like ripping a hole in a brand new ceiling.

Tell me about it! I'm happy though that it wasn't the plumbing. When I first saw the water, I had visions of the pipe above the ceiling being broken and having to tear down a much larger strip to replace the pipe. Instead, I only have about a 2'x4' square hole to insulate and patch once everything dries up. All things considered, this wasn't as bad as it could have been. I'm only out $25 in various caulks, adhesives and sealants, a small patch of drywall and about a day worth of work total. If the fixture wasn't there and hadn't given the water a way out, it could have been really bad because the water could have run on top of the drywall to the kitchen walls and who knows how bad it would have gotten before we even knew about it.

    This is true.
Our current house had sat vacant for several years unwinterized when we bought it. I spent the better part of a week chasing leaks after work. Just when I thought I'd gotten them all fixed I'd turn on the water and there'd be a new puddle. My house looked like it had been attacked by demented woodpeckers with bladder problems, between the holes in the drywall and the water spots on the floors.
I can't imagine how pissed I'd be to find a leak in a room I'd just refinished!
