    I'm about to look into replacing my new 01 Toyota. The frame rotted so bad it cracked and a frame replacement would cost more than just buying a new truck would.

    I'm looking at a dealership across the border selling an 04 Toyota Tacoma, the exact one I have in every way except actual year.

    So, I'm a bit curious. How did the frame recall effect 04 Tacos? Because the few people I talk to said that 04's weren't under the recall and their frames are good-to-go. What should I be looking for and should I be cautious? I've never seen a 04 with a warranty replaced frame, so I think they may be right but I know next to nothing about 04 Taco Frame status.

    The particular one I'm looking at was coated previously and there are no major holes or anything like that. But there is some rust and it looks "scaly" it was described to me. The trip to see the truck is about two hours so I want to make sure it's worth the ride.

    They want $15,900 with 90,000 miles on it. It's a Double Cab with a Cap and 4WD.

    I have an '04 Double Cab for sale and it has 0 rust on it. I had the frame inspection done and they gave it a clean bill of health... :) See my sig.

    So quick question, the sooner I can get it answered the better.

    I just bought a 2001 Toyota Tacoma. The rear diff was patched, I'm pretty sure that's a common repair and not a big deal. Any input with that? Or should I be concerned at all?

    The pumpkin has a patch, not sure what the material is but it's not welded or anything. My uncles Tundra was patched too. This is common, right? Not a big deal?

    First, you should start a new thread to ask your question; no biggie, just a heads up.

    Second, you should be thinking about looking for a rear assembly to replace your current one. Look into sources like: http://www.car-part.com/ to find one. The pumpkin starts out with pretty thick metal; if that rusted through you should have some real concerns.

    Complete OME kit w/ 881's and dakars. All-Pro Sliders, CB, HAM Radio and various other minor stuff.
    I just bought a 04 AC that the dealer did the full frame replacement. They did mention it took some wrangling with Toyota though to get it done.

    Your full of s*+t, I drive a 2000 Tacoma extended cab with a factory sun roof that still DOES NOT LEAK, mind you. Need to check, check, & re-check before you make such a statement, ain't no telling how many sales you've screwed up cause some poor soul thinks that the sunroof is an aftermarket add on that will leak because so & so on the forum said they didn't offer them for those years...
