2013 Access Cab- Need Ideas On Audio Upgrade

Love the taco, hate the sound system. With teh windows down on my freeway, i can hardly hear my beats!

It has to appear stock in every way. I don't want a break-in.

I'd rather keep the stock head unit.

can i just buy an amp and replace the front speakers? I don't want to spend a whole lot.

Any ideas are appreciated.

because it is hidden under the seat. now i just have to figure out which amp/speakers would work and how to install dat crap!

 

if i want to get new front speakers, do i need an amp or can i run them off that powered sub/amp combo?

 

Those little flat amped enclosures are junk save your money. Use a

$77 audiocontrol lc2i 2 channel line out converter with accubass and subwoofer control

audiocontrol lc2i to grab signal from your radio, 4 channel amp that can be bridged. Run the amp in 3 ch mode.
A common setup I do when clients are on a budget is alpine MRV-f300, Rtype 6.5" components and a Rtype 8" sub. In the access cab you could do a little armrest type enclosure in the back. Add the volume knob to the lc2i to have sub level control

 

You are at the same stage I am at. I went out and purchased upgraded 6x9 speakers and purchased the speaker adapter through Mr. Marv. Haven't installed yet though - want to do it right and put Rammat in the doors first, then install the speakers.

 

I am searching all over the forums. All I want to do is upgrade the 2 door speakers..will i want one of those inline amps that fit in the dash work? do i need an amp? what size are the speakers? what is a good high quality mainstream speaker?

I have that Sound Ordinance sub/amp installed in my double cab Tacoma. I too wanted to keep the stock HU and did just that. I have no regrets with the SO sub, it does it's job and adds that little extra thump I was looking for. I did change my door speakers to Kicker 6 3/4" front speakers and 5 1/4 " rear speakers adding an amp to only the fronts. Sounds a lot better now without spending a ton of money on a custom built sub box and all that other good stuff. Everyone has different opinions and it's all a matter of what you want/need and how much of a BOOM BOOM you're looking for and also how deep you want to dig into your pocket.

 

Id reccomend finding the Focal 6x9 components (they dont have to be the toyo specific line as Crutchfeild includes the speaker adaptors for your door) from Crutchfeild. I paid 240ish for these in my 16 4Runner and they are a very nice upgrade for the money. They are very effient (90 plus db) and sound fine with the factory head unit. Speakers must be very effient to work well, and all speakers in the rruck need to be replaced. I dont reccomend amps on a small budget, it will likley muck up one part of the sound spectrum.

You should be happy just replacing the speakers. Crutchfeild makes it very easy and is worth the $.
