I have a bad squeek from the rear leaf springs as well, probably from the add a leaf and block combo. I will end up replacing with a better pack but lets keep focused on the front suspension because I dont want to cause more damage that I have to. I will probably end up taking it to 4 wheel parts or performance wheel and tire where I got the lift if i dont find an answer this week.

How about the clanking noise coming from the front brake pads. :annoyed: The pads move back and forth on the two pins. The round holes that the pins pass threw are now elongated , causing the pads to shift in the direction your going and when they stop " CLANK". Just asking. :goingcrazy: Sean

I think I actually found the problem last night. Broken inboard CV joint on the front drivers side. It is very loose and I can feel pieces in the boot. I will remove the boot tonight if I have time to inspect. I have called around today to check on pricing and it looks like $150 for the new CV and about $200 for install. I might just upgrade both sides with some stronger CV's. Haven't decided if I should do the install myself yet.

CV bearings were the culprit. I suspect that the installers didn’t place the joint back together correctly because this noise has been occurring since the install. Over time the bearings broke and have been floating around in the boot. I pulled out about 8 pieces. I had a new CV installed and it works great. No more noise. Make sure to check your CV axles. If they are loose then you might have the same problem that I did.

Hey smcgill, I pretty sure I have this problem, brake pads shifting and making noise. Have you heard of any solutions to fix it?

    Thanks

How are people using the brake quiet? I figure just putting it on the back of the pads like normal, but I wasn't sure if I should bother put those sheetmetal spacers back in. I'm guessing the gel adds just enough friction to keep the pads from sliding.

    Thanks

I get a clunk when I have the steering wheel turned all the way to the right making a u-turn. I have icons so was wondering if anyone has the same problem. Only happens when the steering wheel is fully turned and as it dips it makes this sound.

Backup camera, wheel locks, locking gas cap, tailgate anti-theft device (hose clamp).
Have you done a break job recently? Sometimes the new non-OEM brake pads do not fit exactly in the brake caliper. The pads are smaller. That little bit of play causes the pads to slide and hit the caliper causing a clunking noise. In you driveway try moving forward and apply the brakes and listen for the suspect noise. If no noise then back up and apply brakes and listen for the noise again. If you hear the noise this time what might be happening is the pads grip the disk and because of the extra play in the pads, they will be forced to slide against the caliper making that clunk noise. The noise won’t occur if you are driving forward and stop repeatedly because the pads are already resting against the caliper in that direction. Bumps and reversing directions will then make the pads clunk again. It’s just a guess that this might be the problem. I did a brake job on my wife’s old van and experienced this.

I have found another reason for the clunking noise beyond the brake pad and the broken cv. ** The brake line bracket is hitting the drop down crossmember from the lift when the wheels are fully turned and incur a bump. I will be modifying this bracket shortly so I don't loose my brakes when driving. The cover on the break line is already starting to peal off.

It's not my brakes because I don't have new brakes yet. Only notice it if I'm ripping the turn a bit, not when I go slow so it could possibly be the bracket on the brake line. I turned my wheel all the way and got out and looked and could not see anything close to touching anything else.

Hey, I know that this thread is a little old, but I'm new to TW and I have the same noise. My truck is still stock, and the noise can be felt in the steering column. This "clunk" happens whether I'm driving in a straight line, or turning. But always over bumps. The dealer said that there isn't anything wrong but I don't believe them. I did hit a big whoop in the desert and the clunk started after that. Any ideas?

Having the same exact problem when I turn or hit bumps when it's wet out. I am going to look at my lower control arms since that seemed to solve the noise problem for you. How tight are they suppose to be torqued to?

Had same issue, it was due to worn out sway bar bushings. Is hard to see, but there it was.

Hi, I am having this same exact issue. I already tried torquing the LCA bolts higher than what is called for. I believe like 110-120 ftlbs. Do you remember what you torqued them to to stop the clunk??

Well now I am on the hunt for this noise. But I think everyone needs to look at what they have done around the time the problem started.. In my case it started after putting on new springs, new top plate bushing and alignment. I don't have a sway bar and I don't drive the truck often. CV's seem tight. The noise only seems to be on drivers side. When the noise first started I found that the 3 nuts on top of the spring where a little loose so I tightened them and the noise seemed to stop. After being parked for a while I would back up and POP! Then it started again but usually after off-roading. I turn left into neighbors driveway pop and then turn right to back into my drive way and then pop again. It is loud and you can feel it.

I have been wondering if the LC might need to be tightened which I will try.
