I've never heard of access cab with short bed. But the DCSB is same length as an access cab. Good luck with sale!

expect to find something similar to this when you rip out all the space hogging plastic crap in the back (less the soundproofing)

I haven't had my seats in for years. I just ripped everything out to soundproof last week and now that I have it apart and noticed all the wasted space I plan on only putting the pillar plastics back on and creating a custom aluminum 'rack' for the back wall and top of the old seat braces similar to this http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/of...ear-seat-storage-my-solution.html#post8340007

It will be nice to have my co2 tank and fire extinguisher mounted in the cab safely and within reach along with a ton of other crap that usually rolls around.

Some things to keep in mind with the manual

    1. You cannot (or at least according to the ordering guide) get an SR5 level pickup with the V6 and 6spd for 2014, if you buy a 4x4 it must be a Shortbed and have one of the TRD packages

    2. You cannot get Navigation (No clue why this is) with the 6spd

    3. you cannot get a LONG bed with the 6spd

The automatic gets both better gas mileage, and costs less.

Toyota has a notorious issue with Manual transmissions and poor throw out bearing design, it's been a problem since the early 90s and even on the Supra it was a problem - I have also read lots of nightmare stories of Toyota blaming the owner with transmission failures claiming water in the casing, unlike the manual there is no exposed vent in the auto that could allow water IN, at least to my knowledge..

I *ALMOST* ordered a 6spd double cab, but I wanted factory nav and JBL, and on top of that I could not find a SINGLE 6spd I could drive, but after reading reviews of them and their inherent weakness i chose to get an auto and equipped the truck exactly like i wanted otherwise.

    Interesting...

Looks like a good place to mount 1400 watt power inverter, ARB air compressor and locking rifle rack behind a carpeted wall.

Ok, I think this pretty much sums up how I felt after dealing with John in sales at Burien Toyota.

Turns out the "new" Pyrite 2014 Tacoma sport they led me on and on about is actually a used service loaner with 20K hard miles that isn't even available until August.

They tried the classic bait and switch by offering me a base SR5 for the same price. I'm moving on.
I'll wait and find the right package or just find an honest dealer to place my order with.

Lying, cheating, sales douchbaggery really put me off .
Thanks for everyone's advice. Over and out.

We don't call them stealerships for nothing. Sorry you had a shitty experience. Sadly I rate Toyota salemen below the Ford salesmen I have dealt with when morals and truth are key.

Sorry about your experience, I'm just starting my search for a Tacoma Sport and not looking forward to the lying and cheating that awaits at the dealership. Wondering if you got your truck yet and if so, would you recommend the dealership sales person you bought it from?

The throwout bearing issue has been "postponed" by Toyota by adding an extra support to the shift fork or something (there's a TSB). In any case there's also a steel sleeve kit by URD to permanently eliminate the problem.

My knock against the 6-speed is the poorly chosen ratios. The end result being the truck gets worse gas milage than the 5-speed auto, while being slower in 0-60 mph and in the 1/4 mile.

You could go TRD sport if you like the look, it will come with the scoop hood, color matched door handles, color matched grille and color matched rear bumper. I would add a killer ARB locker with a nice lift and tires. The skid plate kid and sliders may come later.

Drive on down south to Puyallup Toyota (not too long of a drive). They were pretty friendly and gave me a decent deal.

Thanks for the tip. I don't mind driving if the dealership is going to be fair.

Brian at Bellevue Toyota said he'd do 2% below invoice on any new Tacoma regardless of package, no haggling.

I'm going to hold off for a bit and see what Toyota has up their sleeve for 2015.

Get the Sport if that is what you want. These OR guys will tell you the horror stories about the locker and suspension. I have a sport and the salesman said they were all the same minus the e-locker, and coil stiffness. Sport rode better on the highway, just slightly firmer. Had my sport on a decently steep bluff on lose shale and it stuck. Went onto the San Carlos trails with ice and snow and didn't even use 4 wheel. If you ever thought that you needed the OR consider a truetrack front and rear and you will be 99.999% of an elocker or better. Plus you can get front and back for about 1,000.00 and be hundreds ahead of an OR when they buy the Sport hood (scoop envy). As you know with the Rubicon, lockers are not to be run unless absolutely needed and then should be unlocked as it can be hard on the mechanicals. DBLCAB, Long bed, Sport, Spruce Green? Hell Yeah!:D :crapstorm:
