Mine is still working, bit slow at times,(ie: loading NAV ) I would get a android op system too. But other than that mine still works as advertised.

If you want to set specific numbers you have to turn the right dial, unless you're trying to "scan" through stations, then there s function on the screen I believe.

Thank you
What about firmware upgrade?
I sent a message to the manufacturer but have yet to hear back from them
I tried to plug in my android phone or tablet on the USB ports but the unit will not recognize them
Also has anybody figured out if you can add apps to this thing?

No info on the firmware upgrade, mine hasn't been done since I got the unit. You can but you need to modify the software on the unit, there are forums somewhere that explain how to do it, but I never looked.

So it seems this unit is no longer available from OttoNavi? Looking at their website they only show an android based unit for 2012 and newer Tacomas. I emailed them to see if they had the units for the older 05-11 Tacomas and the response was that the 12+ is the only unit they have. (Major bummer..) I was hoping to get a DVD/Nav plug and play solution for my truck, it looks like I am outta luck now.

http://www.ottonavi.com/toyota-tacoma-gps-navigation-s/2183.htm

Email Response:
"Hello,

Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately we do not currently carry any units that are compatible with your vehicle. At this time, we only carry GPS units for the 2012 and up Toyota Tacoma. Also, our units are only plug and play for factory stock stereo systems, and are not compatible with factory upgraded systems like your JBL one. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and if you have any further questions, please feel free to email us back. Thank you and have a great day.

Best Regards,
Louis Y. "
I did find one or two "Ottonavi" units in my search to Amazon, one was for the JBL system (the one I need) the other was for the non JBL system. The JBL version is gone and there are only 2 left as of this posting for the non JBL...

http://www.amazon.com/OttoNavi-TY05...id=1402398919&sr=8-1&keywords=ottonavi+tacoma

So my questions to the masses: Anyone have other suggestions for a relatively simple plug and play DVD Nav system for an 08 WITH the JBL upgraded stereo? Please let me know what you have or have seen. (Note: I am aware of all the versions on eBay from Canada and China.. Just a little leery of purchasing these units from an out of country supplier.)

Please advise!

Hello, I ended up going with the Jensen VX7020.
http://www.jensenmobile.com/mobile-multimedia/?sku=VX7020

I purchased it from Crutchfield. They included a faceplate/mounting kit with the unit.

So far I am very pleased with the Jensen unit: It has the following features From Jensesn's website:

• iGo Primo Navigation - (US Only Map Data)
• Naviextras Web Support Download Other Countries, POI and Value Features
• Pandora Link
• Bluetooth Hands Free, Phone Book Access, Music Streaming and Audio Controls for AndroidTM and iPhone®
• SXM Ready with Channel Art
• High Resolution Touch Screen
• RGB Illumination
• Front Full Size USB with 1 Amp Charging
• 5 Selectable UI Color Themes
• 5 Selectable Wallpapers
• Front 3.5mm Audio / Video Input
• Rear Audio / Video Input
• Front / Rear / Sub RCA 6V Line out
• Rear Camera In
• Video Out
• 16 Key Learning SWC Interface
• Remote Control
• 160 Watts Peak Power (40 x 4)
• App Connectivity for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry - Connect your iPhone (via jLinkUSB) and Control Pandora Link from the Touchscreen
• Android, Apple and BlackBerry Users Can Connect via Bluetooth to Stream, Control and Enjoy Pandora, SXM, iHeartRadio, aHa Radio, Spotify, Slacker, TuneIn and many more Internet Radio Apps

One thing the list above does not include is the Jensen also has a built in 10 band EQ, and preset sound settings like rock jazz etc. etc. additionally a Loudness option (on/off) which really enhances the sound of the unit over the factory JBL speakers.

Crutchfield has all of the necessary adapters and harnesses you need as well but these are extra purchases. overall with all things included I paid right around $595.00 for the unit and adapters. The HU itself was $349.00 so for the $$ you get all the features of similar units that cost in the area of $1000.00.

Good luck with your decision!

Email them directly - I did and they did answer 2 of the 4 questions I asked..... :smack:

You can't change the light colour so if you have a pre 2012 truck that might be a concern (I checked with them on that).

I just found this link and I'm going to assume what they say in it applies to the Tacoma model as well.

The link provides instructions on how you can "hack" the unit to change the display, icons, etc. and gives you a some instructions on how to use and troubleshoot the unit.

http://priuschat.com/threads/ottonavi-hu-how-to-customize-a-bit-the-ui.103351/

Still on the fence about buying one of these. I'll wait until more details are posted about the 3rd gen. Tacoma at the Detroit Auto Show before deciding if I want to put more money into my truck or wait for the new one.

Mine is finally acting up. The cooling fan is loud when its cold. And sometimes I get no audio when using the USB source, so I have to switch to radio, then the audio will click on, then go back to USB. And also although I think this is no fault of the radio after the last trip to the shop for the rear suspension work, the preamp/fan part of the radio stays on now. Possibly due to a power spike from them welding on the truck with the battery connected. However I do like the unit enough to possibly go for the newer model with the android op system.

So the cooling fan and the no audio when using the USB source is just from normal wear and tear usage? That might provide my answer right there as I want something that's going to last.

I looked at the Android ones as well and would be very interested but it does not look as OEM as the one you have (at least in my 2010) plus the back lighting for the buttons is only blue and cannot be changed to orange (I confirmed this with Ottonavi). Otherwise I would be all over it as it would allow me to use all my android apps (e.g. torque, sygic navigator, poweramp music player....)

It has nothing to do with welding with battery connected. Mine has been loud for over a year now when it's cold. Very annoying. Also don't like that the bluetooth only works sometimes to listen to music from my phone. The ipod connection and sat radio only work sometimes. Have to pull the fuse and reconnect to get it working sometimes. The ipod link also sometimes doesn't have the correct artist or song title displayed and the playlists almost never load. Sometimes, no sound or gets stuck on one mode and won't switch. Have to power off and reboot. Lots of annoyances with work arounds. I've been living with it but today, the unit stopped recognizing the sd card. So that means no music that I have saved on it (since the bluetooth is unreliable) and more importantly, no Nav. The unit is a POS.

Hi yall, new to tacoma world and was googling Tacoma Radio for awhile now and it look like Ottonavi will have the radio back in stock next week. It come with one year warranty and i spoke to someone over there and they said the new unit with have better firmware and hardware. So if the unit crap out I can warranty it. Are they a reliable company? I never heard of them and seem like the old model have so much issue but I really want the factory look. Any feedback would help.
