Hey all, I just recently purchased an 6 speed MT 07 FJ Cruiser with about 80k miles on it. Are there any worries I should have maintenance related I should be concerned about around this mile marker?

Anyways, I am new to the offroad community also and I have a few questions about wheel and tire set ups(and a LOT of other questions about everything else haha). I have a Miata that I autocross a lot and I have 15x9 wheels with 225/45/15 tires, but the wheel and tire set ups for offroading seem totally different than what I am used to. I am curious how wide of a wheel I need to run some 305/70's or a tire similar to that. I currently have stock 16 inch wheels and I do not know how wide they are. If I was to keep them, how wide of a tire can I fit on there??

What is the difference between a LT305/70R/16 vs a 35X12.5R15LT
^the 305/70/16 is the type of reading I am used to when seeing the size of a tire, the other doesnt really mean anything to me, I am not sure what I am looking at.

I've been doing some reading on 35 and 33 inch tires and the need to regear, but I think I am more on the philosophy of not regearing unless something breaks and I have to fix it anyways. Having said that, it seems to me the wider the tire the better - am I wrong in this? How wide should I be looking for? I am probably looking at getting some 35 inch M/T tires.
^I am currently on stock suspension, so would a 3 inch lift be enough to clear 35 inch tires? (again not positive how wide or if it would matter how wide when talking about clearance) And what type of wheel spacers if any would be needed.

Also, does anyone know what wheels these are? because I love them haha - who can I tell to shut up and take my money??

Here is my girl though, right after I washed and waxed her. She is definitely not that clean anymore ;)

If you install anything bigger than 33" (285/70/17) you will need to do some whittling on the body mounts behind the front wheels or the tires rub when you turn ( yes even with the 3" lift) Google " FJ Cruiser body mount chop " for lots of information.

even with 33's you will need to chop the body mount cause youll rub on reverse...

here are some of the setups on my FJ before i sold her.
