Anyone?

 

Rumbling bald out near chimney rock has tons of rock climbing and bouldering. I don't think that the black balsam trail is open yet but I could be wrong

 

Don't know the trails there. Hurricane was mostly tame enough, great for a family ride, but I wouldn't go alone stock, you just never know when u need a pull to get out of trouble. Unless you have a winch.
I may be paranoid tonight though. Ask me after some bottles of courage.

 

I think I'll try hurricane creek, then might check out Brown Mountain. Anyone been there. It says its mostly atvs, but has a couple trails for 4x4s.

 

brown is basically a dirt road winding up the side of a mountain. watch out for bikes or quads hauling ass if you go, people tend to fly up there on em

X2. Brown is geared much more for bikes and somewhat for quads with miles of marked and unmarked single track. Not so much for trucks.
06indigoink I see you are selling the truck, still have the bike? Got the 300 kit in the KTM and am back to riding 2-3 times a week mostly at Brown. Let me know if you want to ride.

 

Thanks, I appreciate the info. Just wanting to take the family around some easy trails to see some scenery. From what I have seen on the internet the area looks beautiful.

 

The Wilson Creek are is pretty cool, and it adjoins Brown Mtn OHV. you could always go down there to hang out in the river and if the urge hits you Craig Mtn. store is about 1 1/2 miles up Brown Mtn. Beach Rd. You can get a pass for Brown and literally drive across the street to get into Brown. At this time of the year there are not really any long range views accessible from the 4x4 friendly trails.

Black Cat is a staple. I worked there for a couple years around '02-'04, damn good times. Place has changed a bit since then, but still pretty good. The bagelry hasn't changed at all, but they do have a new location on 105 at the old Geno's. What part of Ohio? I have some old climbing/ riding guys that I've known for years from the Chicago area.

 

Let me know when and I'll try to come join. I'm always looking for an excuse to come back up there!

Im from Centerville which is a suburb of Dayton. My Bruncle (uncle but more of a brother) lives in Chicago and belongs to a bouldering co op gym there. I used to climb a lot at the red river gorge and have been down to boone a few times. I will definitely try to hit boone on the way in, being with the family I will have to be flexible to their plans as well. We are meeting some other friends in Chimney Rock so again I have to be flexible. But I will definitely try to persuade them to consider it. Lol
