What is the BEST, but reasonably priced, ipod interface adapter for a 2008 Prerunner with JBL system? I heard with some adapters you cant control it from the ipod, which I want to still be able to do. What should I do?

I'm a noob here also and wonder the same thing. The adapters I have been seeing have been for HU with external CD changer (thus the open plug in the back for the adapter) My HU has the built in changer so I am wondering if there is a plug at all in the back of mine. The truck is about 8 hours old (to me) and I would rather not take it apart if it aint there. If we don't hear anything soon, I will pull it and see what I come up with.

    Good Luck!

I'm a rookie here too, right now I am using an FM mod to connect, I had it in our old sequoia, since my wife would not let met take apart the dash. NOT that I am looking forward to doing it but I think I am going to put in a cleansweep and new speakers, the cleansweep has an aux imput for IPod. I have an extension on my FM mod to get it up higher on dash, next to glove box door, when it was down low by the power outlet I got alot of interference but now 8 inches higher I get almost none. Keep us posted on other ipod connections

    good luck

I went to Circuit City yesterday and they confirmed my worries. According to them, and I end to agree, there isn't an option to connect directly. I will be looking into the cleansweep option today.

    Update:
After further reading here it looks like it will. I am going to try it and see. I will take pictures and post after.
Looks like it is at Circuit City part number AIPTY02ID

Although it's a little more expensive than some other options I think the USASpec PA-12 or PA15-Toy is the best option for hooking up an iPod. Unlike some of the cheaper units it charges your iPod, let's you control the iPod manually, and retain the use of the steering wheel controls. It also has an aux input on the unit so you can connect another device like satellite radio or DVD player.

If anyone is interested in saving a few bucks I've got one I'd part with for way less than a new one.

I took a little while, but it comes out glove box side of the center console. I just tucked it under there and have a few inches just sticking out from under the center console. It isn't the most professional way to do it, but it is quick and easy. Road trip this weekend (Bishop and Mammoth to fish) so I wanted to make sure I had my tunes.

    Hope this helps.

Alright! It's installed an works great! Thanks a bunch! But FYI, have a long socket 10mm to unbolt 4 screws! Took me under a half an hour but wasn't sure to remove bolts or not! :D

Oh, also I put the cord through the passenger side glove box. There's plenty of room where it won't pinch the cord at all and you can take it off an reach the cord with ease. Plus I have a really long monster cable and it reach to the driver just fine and I can put it back in the glove box when not in use! ;)

My fiance just got me an 80gb Ipod Classic. My 20GB Dell jukebox of almost 4 years finally died on me. Now I wish I had the "Ipod" Aux adapter instead of the RCA to 3.5mm headphone adapter. Oh well. I can live without it.
