Yea so I'm kinda kicking myself that I didn't get the inverter in my truck when I purchased it but was wondering if anyone has tried or had success installing the factory power inverter and if so how much trouble was it and cost ?

I am in the same boat and bought a complete OEM inverter with harness from someone a few years ago. Just got around to scouting out how to install it last few weeks.

I did find the wiring harness for the dash switch.

I also found the wiring harness under the center console that controls it.

The only thing I need now is to find out if the last harness that powers the inverter is buried some where under the carpet in the floor. It has a heavy gauge blue wire going in to the harness.

I also do not know if a non TRD tacomas with the SR5 package would have the fuses installed in them. Not sure even if all the harness were there they would be live and it would be just plug-and-play.

I posted looking for the center console wiring diagram, but havent ad much luck with this issue when I have posted in the past.

The stock inverter wiring is under the center console. I believe most come wired.

The stock inverter seems to requires two plugs. Onr from the dash to control it, and one with a blue wire to power it. I easily found the one from the dash. Is the second in there also?

I have only taken the cover off the shifter and have not removed the entire center console yet, but it looks pretty bare in there. I only saw one plug.

It's directly under the cargo compartment of the center console. That's where the inverter is installed from the factory.

Its starting to look like the lesser expensive option and least pain in the butt is to use an A/M inverter and hide it under the console in the factory location or behind the rear seat.

So I took out the center console today, the wiring that should feed it with the blue wire is no where in sight. Am I missing something? Should it be in this picture....

Did you ever find the power harness? I also have the switch harness and the harness under the center console.

In the 2+ years i have had my truck, i have used my inverter a total of 0 times. All my stuff is 12v and work so much better for portable nature.

One can never have too many light bars.
I bought an 500 amp inverter that connects directly to the battery for like 60 bucks. Sure it's not as cool as having a truck bed hook up but it produces more power and with an extension cord it's essentially the same thing plus more powah.

I thought about this idea, too. My idea would be to mount something like this where the stock inverter would be since there isn't anything there. I would probably run an extension cord from it into the cab somewhere. I think it would also be cool to run a power cable from it and purchase a truck bed hook up to wire it to.

If you want OEM just pick one off eBay. I just found one right now listed for like $45 plus shipping. The OEM harness though is a whole other story. Would probably be just super easier and better to go with an aftermarket inverter and just fit it in the stock location like some guys have been suggesting.

I personally have used mine numerous times. It's quite handy. I mainly use mine for inflating an air mattress while out camping, or to run my dremel while I'm modding my truck.

No, never found it, I don't think my truck had it even though it's a SR5 model.

400 watts is not very much and most people are not very happy with the factory setup so before you use the factory design you might want to re-think everything.
Also be sure your alternator will handle what ever you install.
