Does the bumper have somewhere to mount the trailer light/brake plug? Ive seen it hanging down in a few photos and i was just wondering where people mount it, or if theres a spot for it underneath?

And BTW as a potential buyer - I'm not phased by gripes on here. :playball:

What I like to do is zip tie it through the license plate holes on the bottom of my license plate. This makes it very easy to take on and off for off-road use. Or you can drill and tap 2 holes

What is involved in removing the swing gate tire carrier? Is it easy? PIA?

Holy thread revival. It's one bolt to take off the swing.

Ok cool, if you don't mind me asking how long does it take to remove? Do you have to deal with spindle bearing and re-grease it everytime you put it back on? Comparing this bumper to Pelfreybuilt, just trying to decide between the two. Seems like the Pelfreybuilt is a PIA to remove and re-install gate from what others have said..

It's easy, but messy. You should add new grease when you reinstall. I've only taken mine off once. No need to remove.

What he says. I've had mine for a couple years and only took it off once. One bolt. I probably should have regreased it when I put it back on, but I didn't. Seems OK.

You can do it by yourself, but having a helper makes it much, much easier.

Easy, one 3/4 inch bolt. As Monkeyboy said it is easiest with a helping hand, but it can be done by one person. Ben puts them on and off by himself a lot while building them.

It should not be messy at all. We remove mine more times than we care to count due to how much my truck gets used for prototype work and pictures. The seals and suction from the grease should hold the inner sleeves in place. You should apply a bit of grease or never seize to the bolt, but that should be the only bit that is messy at all. Unless your seals are worn out somehow (maybe by the old non stainless steel sleeves rusting and rubbing at the seal surface) and drop the inner sleeves.

Note this is an old pic that shows the old spring pin nut.

Thanks for all the info, I just ordered one from y'all! Can't wait till it arrives! After talking to Adam, I do actually think this is one of the best designed hinges of all the HC rear bumpers I looked into. I also think it looks the best with the gate removed, no pin sticking up. This is important cause I only plan to use the gate for long expo/overland trips where I need to carry more then 4 gallons of fuel and/or a second spare tire....

Hi - I just ordered one! Can't wait! I added a question to my order about whether it is possible to add a hole for a 7 pin trailer socket. Please let me know.

Thank you for your order! I replied to your email, but to answer the question for everyone else too. The HC rear bumpers don't have room in the bumper for the 7 pin connector, but the bumper does include a nice hefty bracket that holds the connector "behind" the bumper (towards the front of the truck) in a vertical position, facing down. This keeps it up out of the way, but still accessible when needed.

Just picked one of these from the shop today! I have to say the build of this bumper is awesome! I'm a aviation sheet metal and composites guy and thought I could find a weld or unsupported angle on this thing. I couldn't find a thing to turn my nose to definitely a superior bumper design for Tacos. If anyone wants close up pics of the build or setup let me know you have till Monday morning before instal.

I'm adding this bumper to my list of potential candidates, and I'm curious if the bumper locks in the open position? It looks like it does, but just wanted to confirm.

I didn't get the swing out option so I'm not sure?
