painting chrome grill suround

I want to paint the chrome grill surround white to match my truck,my only reservation is painting over the chrome.I think you can remove it by peeling it or with some brasso.What do you guys think.

I purchased my color matched grill for $170 out the door from my local dealer and sold my chrome on CL for $125.

 

I painted mine. Sanded the chrome real good. Two part primer, two part auto paint. That was about 6 weeks ago. It's still on the grill, so that's a good sign. And I took it through the car wash today and it didn't peal off.

I tried sanding the chrome off and it's pretty damn tough stuff. Worst that can happen is you mess it up and have to buy one. Easily available for well under $200.

was trying to avoid spending 200 bucks but you are correct it is a lot easier.thanks for the input

 

Bought mine for 100 on eBay and sold the chrome.one for 60 just check ebay and this sight religiously or sand primer paint. The white plasti dip is very close to 040 super white but not perfect. I guess it depends on how ocd you are good luck
