Anyone ever tried dehydrating Bacon? I've been doing Jerky the past month or so and just got the idea to try Bacon. I've done a few google searches but would appreciate some first hand info on it :)

    NOT YET
Well everything i read concerning jerky and dehydration said fat spoils. I would assume that means bacon would go rancid.

I would think with alot of it consisting of fat it would not be "shelf stable". :notsure:

Why would you want to dehydrate bacon?

I would try it if you can dehydrate it - Bacon, the new Salsa. Goes with everything

They are made up of only the lean parts of the pork bellies. And with the nature of bacon (nitrates and nitrites) it makes a shelf stable product

I agree with above post, too much fat in bacon.

I don't think most bacon bits are actually bacon. Most actually say "imitation" bacon bits.
