Welcome from North GA :) As far as royal purple, if you are willing to spend that kind of money on oil change, thats your ballgame.. but do some searches and there are quite a few threads on best oil to use.. i personally use Mobile 1 synthetic.

I wouldn't use RP. I've heard too many horror stories. On the other hand, there are those that love it. If you're going to spend that kind of cash go with Amsoil or Redline. As for me? I just acquired my first Taco/4X4 from my dad and I was going to put Amsoil in it. Then I realized i just couldn't justify that kind of money for something that isn't wheeled to death or used for towing so I went with Mobil 1 in everything except the transmission where I used Redline MT90.

Unless you're REALLY beating something or racing Mobil 1 is way more than you need to begin with. Unless you're going for very long change intervals and even then Mobil 1 will do it. Redline is pretty much a racing oil and for the street or everyday use I'd go with Amsoil before Redline.

I myself may go with Amsoil the next time around. I just didn't want to spend that kind of dough right now and Mobil 1 is damn good stuff. You can easily go the recommended 5000 miles with Mobil 1 and probably 10,000. Amsoil will go longer than that but you should be doing oil analysis if you're going to go past the factory recommended intervals with anything.

I guess I am cheap, but Mobil 1 from walmart, Wix 51348 filters by the case from discount fleet supply, and NAPA has their house brand of gear oil (usually Valvoline) at $75 for the five gallon bucket. I can't recall who has the best price on cabin filters, but cheap in quantity, and I have been getting air filtes from Rock Auto pretty cheap.

Enjoy the truck, have fun, get better tires.
