    Thing I don't get is why they're letting people come straight from Liberia, Sierra Leone back to North America or where ever. If it was as bad as what they are claiming you would think they would lock it down a little harder.

    The big question is: How long does the virus survive on an exposed surface?

    If someone with a cold sneezes and touches a surface or someone with Norwalk throws up nearby, your chances of catching the aforementioned dieseses are relatively high. But, on the other hand, your chances of contracting AIDS from touching a surface that was touched by someone with the disease who sneezed into their hands is virtually nil.

    I'm not a doctor, or claiming to know a whole lot. But if this disease makes you hemorrhage from the inside out, then its a great possibility that blood could be within that sneeze or vommit. Unlike HIV where its less likely to be bleeding at the time of sneezing or vommiting, etc...

    It's said ebola survives for a few hours on a dry surface. If the virus is within bodily fluids (blood, vomit, feces, etc) on a surface it can last for days.


    Unfortunately blood doesn't even need to be present to be contagious. The virus can also be transmitted through sweat and saliva.

    There are less than 1000 people infected in Liberia the epicenter of the epidemic.This is where people rub all over a dead body with bare hands, reuse needles and every other medical supply, have no clean water to wash hands, tribal villages with no hospital, eat nasty fucking bushmeat, even nurses don't understand how bacteria works, they kill doctors and kidnap infected people from the hospital.

    I wouldn't be too worried if it can barely spread there what will happen here with an educated population and 1st world medical care and the CDC? Nothing. It's going to be like swine flu

    This is why having an education system, a network of water treatments facilities, plumbing, & sewers are so important. When I was a commercial/industrial plumber, it was made abundantly clear just how important having these things are. Untreated bio waste materials are one of the biggest threats to mankind, on many levels. Also, there's a lot of spiritual beliefs that hold people back from modernization and healthcare in some of these African nations.
