how much?? I ordered a warn VR8000 of Amazon for $470. Ive used it a lot and love the heck out of it.

 

I ordered the version with synthetic line which added plenty to the price.

What are the benefits of a synthetic line?

 

Lighter and less snap danger. It comes with cons as well however. It frays easier and is arguably not as strong. Just depends what you're going for.

 

I bought 100foot of 3/8 syn rope ($120) for mine after the fact already had a aluminum fair lead ($50) that I bought in moab at the M40 shop so total I paid $640 which isn't to bad at all.

As far as synthetic rop goes the pro's well out way the cons rop is cheap my life isn't.

not that im a cheap ass all the time like I plan on moving my winch to the rear and buying this for the front

I got the VR-8000s from Autoplicity for about $590 a few years back.

I think they had a sale and a coupon code or something. Haven't seen them that low since.

 

if that's the synthetic one then it's a good deal otherwise Amazon has a better deal.

 

Yup, it has the Spydura syn. line. I wouldn't mind having a 10k winch just for peace of mind (my daily driving weight is 5500lbs) but the 8k and the syn line has been holding up fine for 2.5 years and numerous hard pulls.

 

Yeah if there is less snap danger i think its worth the extra $$$. snapping cables terrifies me. if they fray more easy you would think that they would be more prone to snapping though.

 

Off topic but how do you like the Goodyear MT/R Kevlar?

I have the original MT/Rs (non-Kevlar) but I freaking love them...wish they still made them.

They flex well when aired down, 3-ply sidewall, uni directional tread pattern, good self-cleaning lugs, good grip on almost any surface (rock, sand, dirt, wood), decent flotation in mud and snow. Not the greatest on ice, but rarely any MT is.

My only gripe is the silica compound they used is noisy; my tires chirp and squeak on the road tar (crack filler) and on the reflective paint (lines, crosswalks etc.). Makes it sound like I am hauling ass and peeling out all the time

 

Had some time today so I built some tool mounts for my ax and combi tool.
I also did one for my HILIFT but didn't think to measure it and its to long for my bed.
So I will have to buy a new one or cut 3-4" of this one

 

I also Plasti dipped the badges, Next time I will just take off and paint them.
As this truck will be going to m 14 yr daughter in about 3 years I am kinda building it to her needs and wants, so the theme for this truck is a firefighter one.

 

They sound like great tires through and through. Your review has me wanting the originals now ha! I am already thinking about the next tires im getting, i have to get the Federals off there.

I wonder how the kevlar ones are though, someone said they are a pain to balance. Pretty sure ill go with Goodyears this time, maybe duratracs, or the MT/R's.

Is it true that quadratec winches are made by warn? I heard that from someone...

 

I always enjoyed my MTRs. They handled most conditions on and off road pretty well. I might buy another set if they still sold them. I think you can get a treadwright that is basically a first gen MTR carcass and tread, but I just don't think retreads are the way to go. I'll keep buying KM2s and I want to try a set of the new BFG KO2s on the new 4Runner. #bfgfanboy
