Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and could use some help. So I got my 2002 Tacoma about three weeks ago and after a few days of driving it realized the Fabtech coilover kit it came with is junk... The shocks are leaking and the lower bushing on one of the coilovers is blown so I get to listen to an extremely annoying rattle every time I hit a bump.

I talked to Fabtech about what it would take to replace the struts, but after doing some research I would rather just replace them with higher quality parts. Here's where I could use some help. I'm wondering if I can just go back to a non-coilover setup so in the future I wont have to deal with having them rebuilt (looking at 5100's with Eibachs or OME) or if I should stick with coilovers (Toytech's or possibly Icons if its really worth it)? If I do go with struts and springs I've been told I'll need new top plates, is there any other stuff I would need to go back to this setup from a coilover?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Lots of dust and custom dents, Check Build
This guy. Also, check out the Colorado BS thread though, lots of people that might be able to lend a hand.

And some other thoughs. First off, Toytec is out of Northglen so if you want to check them out they're local. Also, I've always been a little hesitant about the 5100/Eibach combo due to the 620lbs coil. It's gonna be stiff with no other weight up front. Might be better onroad, but clearly worse offroad. I've been running 5100s and OME 882s which are 500lb coils and give me the same amout of lift. Regardless, notwithstanding the issues with you coilovers, all of these options will be a downgrade IMO.

At some point I'm planning on adding a bumper and winch. Would the Eibachs be bearable until then? What setup would you go with? I'm coming from a 01 Wrangler so coilovers are a new thing to me, but I'm not necessary against them..
