I bought spacers to level the front of my truck, but then read everyone on here saying no to spacers because you can crush your shocks so I bought billstein 5100 adjustable shocks to do the lift. My question is is I want to avoid pre-loading the coil spring, could I use the 5100 at it's normal setting and use the spacer still? If no please educate me on why. PS I am talking about above the strut spacers, not the ones that pre-load the spring.

Some lifts, like OME, use top plate spacers (1/2" MAX) that help achieve full 3 inches of lift. If you are talking about that, that is fine. I run that now.

But it sounds like you mean stacking a 1-2" spacer on top of the 5100's

The spacers lift the truck 2" according to the company but the spacer itself is only 3/4 - 1 inch at the most. is it ok to preload the spring with the 5100 or will it make my ride really rough?

I appreciate the link... It does help and from everything else I have read, it looks like the shocks won't hurt my ride. If I raise my truck 1.75" with the shocks I guess I should use the diff drop kit then too huh?
