URD Short Throw Shifter 2.7 Tacoma

    Hello Guys-

    I have a 06 Tacoma Reg Cab 2.7L 5speed MT. My question is will the (URD Short Throw Shifter 2.7 Tacoma) fit my truck?

    Yes, it should.

    However, there have been a few issues (mine included) where the shifter was too large in diameter for the spacers in the kit. There's a thread around here somewhere about this. Gadget offered to refund the kit, but as another user did on here, I used a dremel to shave down the spacers and made it work. I'll try and find the thread.

    Yes, it is an improvement over stock. I would do it again. The throws are shorter and tighter. Don't expect it to shift like something it's not (a sports car with fancy synchros) but it is a definitely a very noticeable improvement.

    As for modifying the spacers, you can't do much about it until you get the kit. Take your time and remove the shifter and check the spacers on the shaft. If the extension won't fit completely over the spacers and onto the shaft, then the spacers will have to be shaved down or go without the short shifter. I carefully sanded/ground the inside of the spacers (the part that touches the shifter) until the extension fit over them. A dremel makes the task much easier. I wouldn't attempt modifying it if you're not comfortable with the risk.
