    Hello All,

I just left my position as a territory sales manager because I realized sales was not something I enjoyed doing it.

I am a recent graduated of The Citadel in may of 2014.
Looking for entry level business positions other than sales.

Mainly focused on Financial Analyst/Business Analyst, but would be willing to take other positions such as scheduling, HR, Planner, ETC.
Also willing to relocate out of SC if needed.

I have already applied to many positions and have uploaded resume to career sites.
Any Advice on where to apply, who to talk to would be greatly appreciated.
    Resume available upon request.

Just curious why you didn't go military, since you graduated from The Citadel. (you are right from around my old stomping grounds as a kid. I used to live in Summerville)

Military just was never something that interested me. And after going to The Citadel I knew I wanted to get out and start my career.
But you can't beat the low country.

Well, I checked with my company openings as we do a lot of financial and business analysis, but everything we have open right now is 5 years of experience stuff.

If you're really willing to relocate, might I suggest DC? Uncle Sam is heck of a client and there are a lot of companies around here that do exactly that type of work. Besides the big accounting houses, I'd check the career boards of CACI, CSC, and Booz Allen Hamilton to start with.

Actually, yeah, you can. In a lot of places, and many with a much better job market.

I deal with a lot of .mil retirees daily, and most of them work for Boeing or Google. With a huge pool of recruits, it's going to be hard for a new college grad to edge out a guy with 20 years of experience (especially since a lot of them get degrees while in). Sometimes you have to move to where the job market is better.

If you want to stay local, like a poster above said, Uncle Sam pays well. Lots of government service jobs, working WITH the military (not FOR the military), that might be up your alley. The Citadel will be great in terms of good-ole boy networking, and kinda-sorta getting how the .mil works.

I have applied to some in DC, can not remember which ones at the moment, but I will check into those!
    Thank You

Remember too that in in today's job market, higher level positions take forever to fill. I had been applying for jobs for over 6 months. I just took a position a couple weeks ago after I had applied for the position almost two months before they contacted me for an interview. I didn't hear anything for a week after the interview, then another week before the verbal job offer, and finally another week to receive the formal written offer. All said and done, it took over 4 months from when I applied to when I will start.

Just hang in there and remember that sometimes you have to be patient. It also helped me to have several people give me feedback on my resume. They all said different things, so at the end of the day you have to decide what "story" you want it to tell, but the feedback is always good.

Oh I wasnt referring to the job market in the low country. Just the environment.
And in the first post I stated I am perfectly fine with moving, do not mind leaving SC. I have applied to several military affiliated companies so far, just waiting to hear back.

Yeah I have applied for a couple positions at Lockheed Martin for example and I know their time line is around 90 days from first contact to first day of employment.

And yeah, I have had a couple recruiters, head hunters, and persons at The Citadel look over my resume and try to take the best advice from each one.

Best advice I can give is never leave a job until you have the next one secured.
You are much more attractive to an employer if you are already employed.

With the territory manager position I was about to be locked in for I think 2 years, and if I already didnt like it then I knew I would hate being locked in for that long.

But I am still working at my part time job that I held during breaks in college.

Gotcha. While it's a bit muggy for this California boy during the summer, it IS a pretty nice enviroment to live in.

Would agree w/ securing the job while employed. It's kind of like girls find a married guy more attractive ...
