LED Dome light not working.

I recently purchased the Pilot 3175 LED dome light replacement for my 2004 Tacoma. When I open the door the light is extremely faint. When I turn the key the dome light comes on to its full brightness. What causes this and how can I fix it?

I installed the LED dome light in both directions to see if the polarity was backward and it still does the same thing.

 

Check your voltage at the dome light. Low current or a bad ground could be the issue too. Is it dim on the auto as well as the on position? If not try a different door to see if it could be a switch problem. If it is run a jumper from the negative to ground. Good luck.

1st gens require resistors for LEDs

 

just stick with the regular light bulbs for your first gen truck, they just work better and require no "rigging" to make them work
